Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

Hi All,
Can advise to take Molin (P1) Max at 10 students or Yuquan (P1) class size around 5-6? :?: -
maisy:
Tien Hsia's N1 class has only 6 students (1 teacher). I called in yesterday to enquire cos there's a branch near my mum's place and I'm thinking of sending my boy there (convenient cos my maid can walk him over, we don't have to rush home to fetch him).
Is 10 per class considered huge ? Actually I almost forgotten this crucial criteria ...hehe thanks for pointing out. Also, how many teachers to this class of 10? What is the student-ratio at Yuquan ? Also, would you have any idea what is the student-ratio at the other centres (eg berries , tien hsia) ? Xie Xie Ni.titank:
Oh maybe have to plan like DS (Sat at Yuquan) & DD (Sun at Molin).
Still have some concern wonder Molin P1 class where at max 10 students are they able to manage.
I noticed that Yuquan P1 class they are having 1 week of 理解练习, 1 week of 小作文课程. Most other centres have to pay separate on the 作文课程.
Oh .. hmm do u happen to know the max students per N2 class ? and how many teachers per class - 1 ? Thanks!
Berries is max 12 in a class, 1 teacher to 6 students. -
Is Tien Hsia really good? Heard merge with Morries Allan now standard drop a lot. Maybe I could be wrong. I'm now torn in between Yuquan & Molin.

Hi titank,
Seems like you have done a lot of research in chinese enrichment courses. I’m looking for one for my P1 DD, next year P2. I have visited Jiang but find their class size is rather big (max can be 20+). However, I still quite interested in their 特选精英 class. What would u recommend? Thanks. -

My girl dislike class sizes that are big too. She said that she will not be able to concentrate.
Anyone know of any enrichment school for secondary school kids ? -

I think they have enrichment for Sec level. Here is the website http://www.jiang.edu.sg/ where you may want to find out more.
But for 特选精英 class, I think is for P1-P6. Anyway my DD is P1 this year.
One good thing about big class is that they can 朗读 together (I feel). In chinese if one don't practice 朗读, it will be difficult to remember the chinese characters (that's my feel again). -

Ya researched quite a lot until I now blur liao! I had visited the Jiang Education where they also recommend me 特选精英. I had eliminate them as class size is like 1:20. :!:
I'm looking at P1 & N2 for next year intake (2010).
If really want to have small group size can try Xueni Lang, Han Lang. -
My P1 daughter started in Jiang this year for the Jingying class. It is a big class - actually more than 20 kids but mid yr they split the class into 2 so it’s now 15-16 kids.
I think big classes have pros n cons. My daughter had a bit of tough time getting used to the class size as she is naturally shy. I was seriously considering changing her to Han Lang as the size is smaller but I think she did benefit from her year at Jiang as she did well for her SA1/SA2. I have signed her up for P2 but I believe the classes are very full esp the weekend ones. I just managed to change class timing for her only because 2 students from the other time moved out.
The class is 3 hrs long - so your kid has to have a certain amt of concentration span. I think they try to make it quite interesting but can be heavy going at times for the written work part. The home work follows the schooltext but tingxie is harder words/phrases. I thought her teachers were quite nice, nurturing but firm. -
