Hi Jedamum,
my boy is doing 1-to-1 30min session piano at Christofori.KS parents:
Hi Club 2006, anyone DS / DD pursuing music? Piano, violin, organ??
I am thinking to switch my DS out of Yamaha JMC, his class size of 11 shrink to 6. Also lots of trouble maker in the class. Thinking of switching him to violin, wondering which centre or teacher is good.
is violin easier? why dont you continue with piano?
My DS had mention to me his interest in violin since 3. Back then, all centre mention his age is too small for violin. Better to start basic music before branching out to instruments.
Now his centre teacher is not so good, and class size is shrinking. Was thinking better to change after this term rather than waste another term of fees and subsequent force to change time slot. (we always being shortchange) So better to look forward.
How is Cristofori? Which branch you with? -
ks parents,
oic! since your boy already indicate interest and that violin instrument is not expensive (as compared to piano), why not?
my boy loves his christofori teacher (he said he does not want to change teacher), who i think is a student (uni? poly). she is very encouraging type....can stroke my little emperor's ego
. she is a malaysian so speaks to ds2 in mandarin (so we joked he can learn mandarin at the same time. lol). his centre is at bukit gombak. -
I always hope that my children would learn piano or any other musical instrument and that music could keep them company even into adulthood. Have been asking DS since he is 3 to learn piano and the answer is still NO!

don't worry. My son also didn't learn any instrument. He liked drumset, but my DH didn't allow. Then in P3 he took choir for his CCA.He like art.He has a good color sense.I always hope that my children would learn piano or any other musical instrument and that music could keep them company even into adulthood. Have been asking DS since he is 3 to learn piano and the answer is still NO!

DS hasn't taken up any hobby yet. He basically likes to watch TV and play with his toys...... :slapshead:
Looks like I'll have to leave it to him to decide what he wants when he is in P3 in school. -

i always hope for my kids to learn someform of musical instrument too. had asked ds1 since he was 3 too. now at 10yrs old, his answer is still No. he does not have any hobbies, although he likes to doodle; i hope he'll find some lifelong interest in the CCA which he just joined and go on from there. then my husband hope for his sons to learn some form of defense (TKD, wushu). ds1 tried for half a year and gave up, just not his cup of tea.
ds2 on the other hand shows interest in both musical pursuit and martial arts. but i couldn't possibly let him join both in P1 next year as CCA (his sch has both cca offered to P1 - Band and TKD) unless we are willing to commit 3x a week training for both ccas, minimum commitment of 3yrs each. hm....will see what he is interested in ba (but probably going for TKD since he can learn piano at home).

You are very supportive mummy... Well done! I only started my DD1 on swimming. Used to send her for piano then gave up half way. Now I don't trust them to have sustained interest in anything... All 5 minutes fever. I'll wait till she goes into primary school. If she can handle a hobby beyond her school work, then I'll consider.
