all.in.one. Thanks for the tips. My dd will be in P5 next year. Thinking of starting her revision in December. Whole of November, mummy and kids resting period. It's also time for planning, reviewing and fine tuning.

Not very sure how to schedule. Would you recommend, revision to be on weekends (start from which level) and existing P5 work on weekdays?
I personally prefer weekdays to be spent revising & weekends to be spent with parents relaxing.

It's also to keep them on schedule so that they don't get 'holiday blues' when school starts.

My revision schedule for my students:
Nov - Revise & practise questions on P3-P4 work.
Dec - Revist & practise questions on P5 work, start on simple P6 work.

I advise them to do 4 hours of work a day. 1 hour per subject. How they space out the 4 hours is up to them. Some of the parents break them into 1 hour of study, 30min of break. And once they are done with studying for the day, they are free to play or watch TV.

I set enough work for them for 1 hour per day. Some are fast workers, so I'll give additional worksheets. Revision will be done during tuition & they will need to do some self-revision at home too (especially for Science).

Based on my experience with students, those who took a month long break and did not even do some simple work on daily basis usually have a very hard time readjusting when school starts. It's alright to stop tuition to give the kids a break, but they should still be doing at least a few pages of work everyday. It could be simple work like some grammar worksheets or 1 comprehension a day. It's to keep their brains alive.

My students resume class this week, so that I can go through their P5 exam results with them. My students ask me to resume class as they want to learn the new P6 topics early. What are the 3 P6 topics? The rest are taught before, namely; Fractions, decimals, percentage, ratio, volume, geometry, patterns, etc

        The new P6 topics are;
        Algebra
        Speed
        Circle

          Yes, agree with MrsWongTuition.
Continue with light daily work while taking a week or two's break.

I give notes & use PPT for my students. For those who stop tuition to take a break & are doing self-revision at home, I did pass them a copy of notes to revise.

Most parents have thrown/given away the textbooks/workbooks. I don't expect them to buy again.

For practise questions, I print worksheets & exam papers for them.

                  Hi YJL,

The only subject that I think I will revise from P3 onwards is Science,

It's also good to revise for English, Maths & Mother Tongue too.

                    English:
                    - Revise through basic grammar, sentence structure, synthesis & transformation, spelling lists

                    Maths:
                    - Practise on models, basic concepts, multiplication, division

                    Mother Tongue:
                    - Revise spelling lists, sentence structure, comprehension

I'll be getting her to revise both Science and Math, her two problem subjects.

Ideally, 4 hours daily is good. The only issue with dd is she will not do it if I'm not there. Need to spend 4 hours at night after a hard day of work is scary.

She's the type who doesn't care if I take her privileges away either. She only wants her mummy to be beside her, cheering her to study, assisting her when she is stuck. The very reason why I start PSLE preparation early.

How do you handle kids that are not independent and unmotivated learner to prepare for PSLE? Anyone 😢

My student's parents send them to me because they need to work & there's no adult supervision. They come to my house from morning till afternoon to study.

Possible to send your girl to a relative's house during the day?
