I think being assessed by a psychologist will simply give him the label. It doesn’t solve the prob here. Even if u see therapists, u will need to put to practise what u learnt there. It will not create miracles just by seeing the therapists. U need to put them to practice everyday at home. Are u able to commit that kind of time? What u need is really commitment and priority. That means letting other things take a backseat. Only when u are able to do that, the therapists can help u.
Go get a new game that he has never seen. Start afresh. And it has to be a game that involves two persons at least. That means one person can’t play alone. -

uhm... helplessmum3, u should not worry so far ahead. What's important is to see what you can do to help him now.Hi Mashy, just to get lebal nOT further diagnose ?

helplessmum3, perhaps the first step u should do is to go to the polyclinic to get a referral letter to KK Hosp - whether to get a diagnosis or to rule out any issues. For all you know, it may be just nothing at all and everything is all right.
Don't get to hung up over the label, whatever the label will be. As i mentioned, it may be nothing at all. But if there is a problem, then at least you have found out early and you can start your child on early intervention. This means that you can find the right help or therapy for your child.
Second step => as the wait list to see a doctor at KKH may take a while, in the meantime, you can follow the useful advice provided by the other forummers here. Talk, play, spend more time with your child. I know u are working, so find little pockets of whatever time available to bond with you kid.
Third step => Time to visit KKH to see the doctor. Hear what she has to say and advice.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: You are NOT at fault. Please do not be so hard on yourself as u did not do or eat anything wrong. -

If the pd feels that something is up, they will refer u to see e psychologist for the assessment test.
U can try toys r us or elc at the board games section. Don’t get the board games, get those like hang monkeys, balance the ice cream etc. Or build something with lego. Or racing cars against each other. It is simply to have fun together. Go outdoors together too. Like swimming etc. Just have fun and enjoy the time together. Who takes care of him when he doesn’t go cc? U can spend more time with him during the weekends instead of playing with your laptop. There is always hope. Don’t think so far ahead. Deal with the issue at hand. Take one step at a time. Start by talking more to him. -

Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. These signs all begin before a child is three years old.

It's really not brain damage. There are kids who are gifted and very high functioning. They are able to lead normal and successful lives. I know of ASD kids who go to mainstream schools and do very well there. Know of 2 kids who got above 260 for PSLE T scores.helplessmum3:
:snuggles: :snuggles: I understand your fears and anxiety. What's important is not to panic now. DON'T let your emotions control you. Take each day one step at a time. :hugs:I'm very very scare and very sad.
