You went to Michigan!! I PM you!!
Chen, thanksChenonceau:
Yeah... Janet, you, linden, psle2011mum, violin_lover, fat mama and ksi (plus others) have given me a lot of courage to keep speaking up for kids in mainstream without access to the kind of resources we 4 2012 PSLE Moms provide to our kids.
Thank you.
But I am ashame of myself for not being contributing much. My goal is to go back to Ann Arbor and let my boys enjoy their childhood there if I have the resources.

Chen, let's aim for Harvard too :rahrah:
I am happy for you too. At the end of the day, it's in His hands. We do our best and await his will. This said, I know a young man, now in Harvard. Last in GEP every year. So... got hope!!Nebbermind:
Have to say that my FATHER have been blessing me in this area!!!
My boy didn't have good results to boast of for his GEP...no outstanding CCA records, not a student leader....very ordinary!!! But he wanted to try for DSA....he didn't think he did well in the selection tests, just like his GEP selection...but he got selected *PHEW*
Your DS didn't think he did well but got selected. His and/or your standards must be very high.
But high is good lah... if he is gifted then it's good to stretch him. -

Comparing to our school days, I thought our children actually do have access to a wider range of resources (in terms of what's available in bookshops like Popular). Of course, it is not always straight forward to identify the suitable resource (guidebook or assessment books) for different kids as it will really depend on his ability and needs. Hence we see school teachers or tutors making use of some of these resources. Are you suggesting that it would be great for teachers to make recommendations to parents as it is not always easy for all parents to know which to choose? And the issue is not so much about \"having access to the same database\", right? sorry, if I still miss it after so many of your posts about this.
If all students have access to the same database of resources then you wouldn't worry.

yes wonderm, actually that was what I wrote as I find it quicker and more doable than waiting for a big content database to be built. The birth of an idea of a central resource is all Chenon's. The suggestion is to make it as an option inside the booklist for all recommended resources and implement across ALL SCHOOLS. Now selected schools are doing this on their own, so just asking for a systemic approach in line with Chenon's vision.
