i only know the speech therapy,
do you know any good social skill therapy & OT ?
Bridges in Communication => for speech and language therapy (SLT)
Hand-in-Hand => for OT
For group sessions, sometimes social skills can be incorporated in the OT or SLT. It depends on each centre's or therapist's prog for the child. For info, KKH also has its own in-house OT and SLT, so u may want to consider going to them too.
Maybe other parents can help recommend other SLT or OT to helplessmum to give her more options. Tks -

KKH doctor, only see my son for less then 5mins then she conclude might be autism..
i was like uh? shock! She say yr son is playing himself , thats autism sign!!

I told the doctor, my son have little interaction like , if he wan biscuit he will bring the biscuit to me & say \"i wan biscuit pls\" or if bread, he will say \"i wan bread pls\" or if he want cookies,he will say, \"i wan cookies pls\"...
When he finished his cup of water, he will bring me the empty cup & say \"finished\"
KKH Doctor replied me,\" that is Parriot bird\" ?!?!!
my son was holding a paper clock & he walk near to the real clock looking up and say clock clock. KKH doctor continue, tat Autism sign... ?! ...
Maybe tat my son habits tat i have been doing with him, cuz whenever he say to himself things, i will reply far far away & looking at laptop and say Ya clock clock... so he always think it tat i always there to answer him even though he dun have to look at me & i dun have to look at him...

What is imaginary play?
my son at times will use the water bottle teats to put on his ear & say \"TI\" act like thermometer in clinic. is tat consider imaginary play?
what are the imaginary toys should i buy for him? Animal farm?
What is interaction?
when my son is having cookies, i go to him and say \"mummy wan cookies pls , ugh & open my mouth, he will feed me his cookies & smile.
at times, my son will bring up a shape & look at me & say \"Circle\"...and wait for me to say again...
KKH doctor say tat these are routines
Things that the doctor never ask us is my son motor skills
My son can climb up stairs, down only few steps then he will look for me to help me goes down further.
My son can self feed with spoon, my son can drink from cup but at times does has accident like spills. he can run, he can walk & he can climb..
hopeless. helpless.... cluelesss.... -

think you should get second opinion.
regarding ‘imaginary play’, the need for this play is quite real.
my ds2 lacked the imaginary play aspect and suffered in his speech development (on top of his ‘near-deaf’ experience).
i blame myself because i don’t know how to play with my kid nor expose him to play cooking, or make believe back then. imaginary play engages the imagination and also builds on speech and interactions.
acting like doctors etc is part of imaginary play.
even power ranger figurines are also imaginary play.
other imaginary play includes dollhouse, farmhouse(figurines), cooking (playdoh etc) etc. what is important is the play partner ie you. -

Sorry, we never went to see the psychologists before. I gave my opinions to you in the beginning as your kid didn't sound autistic but just neglected and isolated since you mentioned you were an absent parent?
I also compared some of your son's actions to my own kid of the same age as they seemed similar and thus, was trying to help you see that it could be just a normal phase / stage.
Ultimately, just wanted to allay your fears and tell you not panic. Just try to interact with him more at home before going to the therapies. Getting diagnosed is just a formality or the last resort. If you can help him otherwise, why get him labelled? That's why I suggested that you work with his pre-school teachers first. -

on 2nd opinion, i can’t afford the cost like in Mt E & etc…
if go for NUH, think will have another long Q to wait… hiaz…
any Mt E charges like? -

i see, now then i get what you mean. very sorry, I'm very slow in understanding haiz.. at current moment, duno is it that i been crying for everyday for a week now... i can't eat , can't sleep.... can't drink....

From your descriptions above, his speech and motor skills development are quite typical of a 2yo. He can ask you questions, can smile and respond to you, can feed himself etc… those are very good milestones. So I do not understand why the KKH doc insists he is autistic. Most kids like to play by themselves sometimes. My son can play with his power rangers and ultraman by himself for hours, doing sound effects and pretend acting etc. He is definitely not autistic.
Your son sounds really intelligent so I am not sure why you think he is autistic. If he is only lacking in social skills, you can still help him by making the conscious effort to interact with him.
Toys to buy:
1) Megabloks / Duplo
2) Figurines of his favorite characters eg. Power Rangers, Ultraman
3) Cooking sets
4) Doctor set
5) Police set
6) Magnetic drawing board
7) Remote Control Car
Toy cars with mat showing roads
9) Train set (Thomas the Tank Engine or Chuggington)
10) Dinosaurs -

he play with himself, but he will bring up the water melon & look at me and waited for me to say \"water melon\" then he will say \"water melon\" & smile in shy.. and carrots & etc.. if he feel like want me to say the items name to him...
if not he play himself...
iF i go assign another doctor, also will wait for next Q, might be long again..Hiaz.. -

I just enroll my son to childcare centre full day. but keep falling sick so his attendance is very poor.
maybe after plus & minus he only goes for 1month or less.
My son sings very well & label flashcards or iPhone apps flashcards very well. He already noe A to Z, all kind of shapes upto Octogons, knows what is shoe,knife & all household things. he can draw M . or A or draw a potatoe.
He jus don interact & did not involve us in his playing, always like to play alone. solve problem himself. hiaz. We always cheers him whenever he self entertain himself..and usually i jus cheers looking at my laptop without looking at him..
he don't request , he will just go take himself if items are within his reach or he is able to open himself. but if things he can't reach or open himself, he will request either bringing me to the item or bring the un-open container he will ask me to open. either by gesture or simply words.\"i want\"
his eye contact is poor too. only recently improve when he start day school. but still quite poor.
sorry if my replies are in bits and pieces as i am trying to read backdated posts.
absent parenting will not lead to autism.
it can however lead to speech impairment, and excessive exposure to tv/dependency on gadgets lead to short attention span.
i am guilty of absent parenting my boy.
he lacked eye contact too before 3.5yo.
i agreed that he did behave rather 'not within the herd' which might have led his teachers to suggest he might have ADHD and got us to seek help (we are awaiting our next bi-yearly review this June and i hope it'll be the last :xedfingers: ). thank goodness for us, he 'matured overnight' during a week span around when he was 3.5yr old although his energy level is still an all time high even now (which translate to something beneficial as he is learning stuff at 'twice the speed faster' than his brother....ie when he has nothing to do, he'll complain to me that he 'has nothing in his hands', so i just shove him a book and good that he can read
).
if autism is ruled out, intervention at 2.5yr old will surely help.
you have to adjust your parenting style and such first.
