Me too - thanks to all for sharing - especially beanbear, Peony ! Gives me courage to go against the 'compulsory' !!! I must admit it is tough, I don't know why but I feel guilty ! Why ? This is my child, his time, our consquences to bear.

Why is it the schools are reacting this way ? Fear that the whole class will follow suit ? Fear that the parent is not able to \"teach as well as the teacher\" ? I just don't get it or maybe they just need to follow the routine to express disapproval ?

Like Peony, we are trying out best to avoid catch-up stress hence moving full-steam ahead for CA1.

        softcoach:
        Hi

I have a problem. My DD2 is in P6 and has lots of daily homework (approx 5-8 worksheets/papers a day) since begining of this year. She sleeps after 11pm each weekday and gets up at 6am to prepare for school. Since she is weaker in Math and Chinese, she attends MT and Maths tuition. She continues with her tons of school homework on weekends too. She has hardly any play time. CA is this week and she doesn't seem to have the time to revise the worksheets/notes that she has done. Quite worried for my DD2. Thus really appreciate advice on how to revise for CA/SA when there is so much homework & supp classes/CCA (she stays 3x a week till 5pm). Thank you so much!
Softcoach, your DD's CA is very early. Mine only starts end of this month & stretch to early next month. My DS also got lots of homework on top of 3 weekdays of CCA & 2 weekdays of supp class plus Sat half day of CCA due to SYF. Everyday when he returned home, he need to bath quickly, eat his dinner & do his homework until 9:30 to 10pm. After CA, the 2 days supp class will stop until term 3. Those who didn't do well for CA will need to go for remedial class. I am praying very hard that he do well for this coming CA. 🙏

My DS also got a lot of homework. Luckily I took him out of all the 3 days of supplementary lessons. Even without going for those lessons, he can only finish his school homework and go to bed at 10pm since last week. We don't even have time to do much revision / tuition work at all. Yesterday he got 1 full sets of Sci , EL and chinese Section B papers to do. Along the way as he does his homework, there will be things he doesn't know and he will have to stop to check the dictionary or for me to coach him. So it takes like forever.

I wonder how the others in his class can find time to finish their homework?? Maybe my DS is really slow??? :siao:

Pixiedust, ultimately we are the ones who will have to bear the burden and stress when our kids burn-out. Schools and teachers aren't going to be there for you and pay for the psychologist's bills!! Do what you think it's best, not what they think it's best for the SCHOOL!

                  Hi Herbie,

My dd’s cca will also go on after syf till june. I find it quite unfair for our kids as they have already committed so much time practicing for syf, so all schools should stop the cca after syf, to let the kids concentrate on their revision, but doesn’t seem to be the case.

Hi Whitety, if ur kid stop going for CCA after SYF, what is the consequences? If nothing serious then can stop after SYF to concentrate on preparing for exam. I will get my DS to stop after SYF, think the teacher will understand.

If stop cca before the june if attendance is

less than 75% it will not be recorded in the
                      report book.

And will this affect dsa application?
