SDP says g'ment policies have 'gradual move to populism'
-
If the govt is trying to make good on some of the propositions raised from the last GE, why can't it be acknowledged and move on? If govt considers the proposition is beneficial and implements some form of it, they say govt is bending to populist demands, if not, then the govt is not listening hard enough to the voices of the people, hence the need for alternative political voices. Either way, I see the govt is caught between the rock and a hard place. Very puzzling to me. :?

A case of opposing for the sake of opposing?

As stated in a different thread,
"Whatever they do, they can do no right."
Indeed. -
Since a long time ago, I have already written off SDP.

That, is his views… does not represent the other Opp or electorate.
If the Govt does thing right, means it does things right…
If it can does thing right, why would pple ask for change?
People are naturally resistance to changes… unless they are forced with no choice…
I would prefer to stay with familiar, than to risk uncertainty… Unless, the familiar path is no longer viable… or IMO, not in the right direction.
If the MIW can convince me that they’re right, I will definitely support them.
But I sincerely hope that they do not pick candidate from a limit pool of "elites" who never step out of ivory towers…
I am against a system where a transport minister who don’t take public transport on a regular basis. They can take taxis, if they are in a rush. or they can plan their travel needs.
I am against a system where the health minister don’t make use of public health service. Yes they can use public assistance scheme or subsidy… I feel they shd be entitled to.
Currently, perhaps none of the Opp can do it… I’m not saying Opp are any better… But I feel this shd be the right direction for any party in power.
If a minister who takes public transport regularly stands out and shout "you can get on the bus/trains, its whether you want to"… It will silence any critics… no one would challenge it… if someone who lives in ivory tower does the same thing… prob he/she should be stoned…
Lead… by Example… Earn, the Respect. -

No, people can ask for the wrong things also. (They often do, actually)

If all they do is follow what the people ask them to do, what's the point of a government?
Anyhow, you know I am not seeking to influence you...... -

Yes.. true lah..
If all they do is follow what the people ask them to do, what's the point of a government?
They do what is right.. but.. also get in touch with the pple lah.. don't hide in the Ivory towers.. walk around.. feel around..
When they truly understand the feelings of the pple.. given their capability, they shd be able to do the right thing..
they don't just do what the pple tells them to do.. they \"feel\" what needs to be done. -
limlim:
And if they do something that 'feels' wrong to you and me, is that acceptable? In the name of good governance?
they don't just do what the pple tells them to do.. they \"feel\" what needs to be done. -
Eugene, the old RI principal, has joined SDP? :?
I think the budget is largely conservative and roughly in line with what the PAP has always done. I don't feel that it's a populist budget. Since populism has become a dirty word, that's a good thing. -
This is what the saying goes \"Damn if you do, damn if you don't\". It confirms my opinion that the opposition is trying to find fault with the govt no matter whats.
