MOE Relooking P1 registration - Too much priority to alumni

I'm not saying it is, but you can see how this comes across as being 'elitist' or 'clubby', much to the chagrin of those on the outside looking in. But I get your point, it is valid. So perhaps a restriction on the percentage (which should be small) for alumni, and to ballot it the applications exceed for that phase, and the rest for 2B/C.Musings:
Having come from a school with strong traditions (though my kids couldnt take advantage of that priority - wrong gender!), I would hate for those traditions, sense of shared identity be eroded. I had always longed to be able to tell my kids \"mummy and friends planted that tree in school over there, your teacher was also mummy's teacher...\" but that was not meant to be. -

We really don't want to have to ballot all over AGAIN!!! That would truly be unfair. Better if they put \"siblings of former students\" in Sibling Phase, and I'd be super happy.many of those under 2A will be greatly affected!
those with siblings depend on the elder child enter P1 2013, 2014 or P1 2015 - to bring in their younger siblings into same school, are greatly hit.
if their elder child can't go in because of changes to 2A, the younger sibling also cannot enter the same school too.
all those entering P1 2014, 2015 ... better start planning alternative backup plans, if hit by 2A changes.
property and rental will sure go up like crazy, around the schools ! :siao:

once MOE announce start consider something, how long did they take to implement & swing the plan into action ? eg: PV plan last time ? -

When we were applying for pri school for our eldest boy, my MIL was saying \"just go see the Principal and tell them that we are from the church, lor ... that's what your Daddy(her husband) did last time\". Had to tell her that it just doesn't work that way here in SG in this day & age. We actually did have a choice, in a way. There was a mission school that was further away that had almost 2x more vacancies than the school nearer us, but I really couldn't envision sending my son there, and in my mind, I felt that if we didn't ballot successfully, it was just not going to be God's will for our son to go to the nearer mission school and that God means for our son to go to the neighbourhood non-mission school instead. We balloted successfully . Whew .... and certainly hope we don't have to ballot again for no.4 when it's his turn for P1 registration in a few years' time!!! So yeah, we do believe in the Religious Mission school education! -

Well, if I am in such a situation, I would like that. School no longer exists. For dh, his school is in M'sia. So this situation doesn't apply. We balloted for our kids to get into Pri schools here.

My dh holds a Blue IC. But he has been here for 35 years, most of the years as a PR. He says his bosses love that he does not take maternity leave and doesn't take leave for NS or reservist ... sigh. -

Apples vs orange lah. Alumni issue is separate from the Singapore vs PR issue. And, nobody says not gvg PR places in our Pri sch juz that Singaporeans (true blue) should all have much much more priority into schools than them
And such sentimentality should trump over the outrage of frustrated parents who have no recourse to popular schJools located next door to them, by dint of the fact that they were not alumni?
my kids are in the system already but i feel for the Singaporean 'ka ki lang' whose kids are about to register .... I will not continue in the Shylock discussion. Wherefore art thou Singaporean?! :evil:

It's also not under Alumni Phase 2A1. Currently it's under Phase 2A2. At least have some priority.
And ... what if they change with this new revision and say that Siblings of Former Students have no priority? :faint: -

Phase 1 is for siblings still in the primary school. In Phankao's case, she may need to ballot if the alumni is being remove.
