Snow Crystal:
You are not only realistic but very far-sightedjedamum:
When his friends were talking about going RI, my boy said he thinks that RI is out of reach and i said i agree with him. i am not about to let him go for tuition/enrichment for 4 subjects so that he can get into IP because 1. we cannot afford; 2. what happens after PSLE? tuition for more subjects in sec sch??
We are more into assessing if he'll survive better in co-ed or boys' sch and will work on from there. Also going to assess if he'll do better in SAP Sch environment or non-SAP Sch. his current MT performance is like a yoyo.
for the time being, he has no preference. and we have preference for every 'score band' (eg 220-230 what sch, 230-235 what sch etc etc) to be realistic.
Many of us thought that if we manage to 'push' the kid into the tiny door of good sec sch - phew end of story but we fail to realize behind the tiny door could be either Wonderland or Neverland. I guess many of us forget to think: what if they can't cope in that sec sch :nailbite: You really think through it well ahead.
i am just taking the easier (less stressful) way out ah..

Chongalicia:
definitely want my kids to go to the top schools.
in your opinion, which are the schools that qualify to be top schools? -
Beansprout:
My wish is that my girl can go to NYGH and son to Hwa Chong. If they can't make it, I am fine as long as they have tried their very best. I mean, most parents would want their kids to enter top schools and be among the top cohort so I am not exception. But I don't want to over stress myself over 'what they are' versus 'what we hope they are'. As long as they have tried their best I am fine. There are many roads to success in life and going to top schools is not the only option.

I am also hoping that my dd can get into Dunman High, maybe bcos itβs an IP school, I will not hv to worry about which jc 4 years later. I hv heard of a girl who score 6 pts in L1R5 deduct 1 pt from cca = 5 pts still cannot get into NJC this yr. She stay in bukit timah area. Scary. However, if dd really canβt get in despite her effort, then I think I will acknowledge the fact and move on.

parents,
i need more info on what SAP sch culture is when compared to non-SAP schs. my boy thought that SAP schs carry out subject teaching in chinese language :faint:. dunno how to use the search function which does not throw back searches for 'SAP' word.
thanks in advance!

No doubt DHS has O lvl class, but hearsay fr pupils that the environment is not that condusive,Dunman High School
1. New and nice building.
2. \"O\" Level backup
3. Importantly, heard that the people (from Principal to security guards) are really warm and nice!
perhaps morale being affected.
Yes, the security guards there are so friendly, greet ever1 who drives in. -
jedamum:
