                That's always some ways.... like seek help from friends and relatives who have the knowledge in those areas.

                  So, how does your child's classmates handle this? Where did they get the notes/info to study? May be can get your kid to find out from them.

                        I will definitely talk to the teacher first. Try to understand why he/she is doing it this way, before talking about complaining.
