hi rugrats, have not heard anything about major overhaul, must check that out.... honestly, i do think one part of the school need some ugrading eg the tuckshop area.... reminds me of a flatted factory. ha ha
yes moonee ; the girls do get the rain when it rains heavily...
Have heard the same, moonee but only because there's lack of space in trying to get into single session per MOE's recommendation
yes Andaiz its to serve the purpose to make the school single session
Oh, really?
When is it going to happen? Where is the temp location? For how long?
My P1 girl will definitely be affected.
yes it will definitely affect our P1 gals
at 2012 for 2 years (since deadline is 2016)
all these are not affirmative but in anyway whatever steps they take in order to make it single session will affect the gals since reduction of intake does not seems to be possible.
the location?
my heart sank when i heard... I hope MOE will allot a more realistic temporary location.
Like all of you I too hope its not true. -
rugrats_pat:
Darn, by 2012, I'd have DD1 - whom like yours- in P4; plus DD2 in P2. By the time they finish the work in the current site for return in 2014, our gals would be in P6! (and my 3 DDs would be in the same session
at 2012 for 2 years (since deadline is 2016)

Hey friends,Andaiz:
Really??
okay, she's in education, so can trust such press statements eh?
Here is the link http://news.asiaone.com/News/Education/Story/A1Story20090129-117986.html
Oops!! I just noticed that I missed out she did say \"expand the school's infrastructure\" when I read it again.
Don’t need to worry/panic. “Expansion of school’s infractures”does not mean that school need to move to temporary premises. Most of the time, upgradings/expansion works for schools are quite similar to upgrading of HDB flats in a way. Expansion can be done to existing blocks to create new classrooms with construction of new blocks for classrooms and other facilities. Upgrading of existing classrooms are normally carried out during school holidays to minimise disruption. The upgrading/expansion works can be carried out with the school operating as per normal. Obviously there will be inconveniences caused (noise, dust etc) but these can be minimized and controlled. I feel the school needs to be relocated only if the whole school needs to be re-built/re-constructed or the existing structures were constructed previously in a manner which does allow for new expansion works to be carried out easily. -

1. Upgrading work being done during normal school day. The children will breath in all the dust. Even when the project (Hillcrest Villa) next to the school was carried out last few years, I felt is not very healthy for the children. Luckily it was TOP not long after the school started this year.
2. The holding school location is unknown and the children may have to travel further.
I really hope that her 6 yrs in RGPS will not be disrupted by all these.

I absolutely agree with that. Not to mention the sound can be loud and disruptive.
MOE should have bought over the land for Hillcrest villa  and yipee all problems solved; the school will even have a swimming pool. hehehe  -
With that piece of land they can build an olympic size swimming pool and an outdoor stadium like what Hwa Chong has in the opposite.

Hi Rugrats, Well I guess u re right. The schools still looking for an alternative re-location for expansion to be ready by 2015 so they can switch to one session in 2016.
Heard that school will move back by 2014 so we should all be out by end 2011
(should be around this time if everything goes as planned)
Andiaz, think ure right, library site is too old. Needs upgrading.think they are working on that area ... -
If that is the case my girl will spend her P3, P4 and P5 at the holding school. Then move back to Hillcrest at P6 and they will miss their indoor sport hall for 3 yrs.

-
KsP : well thats what I was told., again it depends on how much MOE is gonna pay for the upgrading.... from how i see it the indoor sports hall is new, perhaps the students can still make use of it. Its the library block thats old and definitely needs an upgrading.... lets just wait and see as there may be changes to the year we have to move and also for how long,,,Wait for the P to make the final confirmation of the year and time. Just hope the holding school will be near bkt timah. Ai Yah!! hope they make small changes and leave us all there.. Yah
From what I gather, MOE has alloted the temporary location :x . And its just a matter of time they announce unless it changes again.
