I notice the young burmese maids are 16 to 19 and this is well below the legal working age of 23. I really wonder how our work permit office can issue w/ps to these burmese maids when it is so apparent that their photo submitted appears very young… I think the officers are with full knowledge and damn lazy. Why does MOM bother to state 23 as the lawful age. what a joke!!

      CHILD LABOUR!!

[quote="huanghou"]After getting the 1st one from Chin, I was advised to try one from nearer China border. All these are far away from Yangon. But no use. I think wisdom has nothing to do with getting suitable maids. You cannot interview them. Photos are not useful. Unless you get a transfer maid whom you can interview face to face.[/quote

The Chin state is very big and with different dialects, most of the problematic maids come from Chin. My last 2 were frm there, my past agent had the most problems with maids frm Chin state.

If there were only 2 maids in the world to choose I’d choose my Chin one - "gong gong gila gila", over the La Shio (near China) one who was "hao lian" lazy.

just to give an update, i had just fired my bermese maid and sending her back tmr. don’t have energy to explain my bad experience with her despite i treated her so nicely.

her flight is tmr morning, i informed her last night. and guess what is her response when she heard i am sending her back. she said, ‘huh, i don’t want to go back, mdm MUST send me back to agent, why mdm nvr tell me early, if you tell me early i can still ask agent to find me another job. like that i don’t want, i will lose $$ if i go back and come again. mdm MUST call my agent. cannot lah, mdm CANNOT do like that’

if MOM is still open at that time, i will call for the officier to bring her get out of my house. SO DARING to blame me. not even bother to ask if she did anything wrong. I felt breatheless talking to her, as a expecting mummy with a 7 mth baby in my tummy, i tried my best to control my temper. i told her, i am so nice to give you earlier notice, still allow you to go out today to exchange $ and go shopping. You don’t appreciate all these, i should had followed singapore standard, tell you on the spot and send you off.

i am so glad that i made a decision choose to have a maidless life. she looked like a nice girl but in fact, damn stubborn and rude. no respect at all. so wish anyone saw my post, will give up the idea of hiring a bermese maid. they are not worth the $$. they don’t really want to be a maid here. Don’t waste your time & $$. their problems are more serious than other nations.

thanks 1amber, my nightmare is finally over. i should had taken a photo of my maid this morning. she took half an hour to do her make up, wear a red color dress with black stocking, and a new pair of sparkling shoes she bought yesterday. Big round earinings and necklace, carried a fashionable sling bag and her 15kg luggage with full bag of clothes she brought over from her home town last time. 2/3 of them i did not even see her wearing before. I bet no one can tell she is a maid. more kua chang than those filipino.

i roughly cleaned my house before sending my girl to her childcare. on the way to office, i told my hubby i felt so excited. he said with this experience next time must be careful. i told him no no, no next time, i will nvr ever want a maid no matter how. at least bermese is definitely a NO NO.
