Iβve been advised to get Singtel shares and hold. Any thoughts?

I used to buy penny stocks too but got burnt. Now I try to buy blue chips, ok some not so blue chips.
How do you buy US shares? I know people who made it when they bought Citibank 1 and half year ago. -

Thanks. My sentiments exactly. So the strategy is either buy and hold or buy many lots (which costs more and not for those with limited funds)
But also cannot buy and hold blindly. Think this theory might not be applicable since the last decade. So need know when to preserve capital or put a trailing stop -

You are referring to Spore shares? So far all the local brokerages charge the same
I thought the minimum charge is $50? :? Is the minimum charge different for different brokers?
Minimum Commission: S$25 + Clearing Fee (CDP imposed): 0.04% (max: SGD600) + SGX Trading Fee: 0.0075% -

There is always a saying \"Sell in May and go away\" :imanangel:
What's happening from then till May? :?MadScientist:
Who dares to buy in (big) now?
Watch March 20 onwards to this coming May...
Some investors use calender-based indicators. People will invest in Jan of the new year due to capricorn effect. Some will sell in May and will only come back in Oct

That will depend what is the objective you want from SingTel shares?
People like infrastructure shares due to it's defensive nature. And also periodic dividends to collect.
But how about SingTel compares to StarHub & M1? -

You can buy US shares from most of the local brokerages. But do note that their charges are typically quite high
How do you buy US shares? I know people who made it when they bought Citibank 1 and half year ago.
Minimum Commission: USD 29
USD 2 and below: 0.35% of trading principal
Above USD 2: USD 0.03 per share
Some online brokerages offer cheaper charges. For example
some will charge USD9.99 per trade, some charge USD15 per trade (minimum)
As for the CitiBank & AIA case, that's a once a century incident. That's based on hindsight. Even then, will you dare to put your $ in that shares considering the financial crisis then? -

Orchard Rd flooding was also a once every 50 years but see what happens. But it is true that many \"revelations\" are based on hindsight. Right now with such volatity and uncertainties, prudent to be conservative. There should be some stocks that gives decent returns. It's a matter of knowing which one. (which I don't.)
