What got to do with local or not?

        http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/

        I don't like phrase 2 on \"alumni, volunteers\"... so does that mean I am a non-local?

Why studying in Primary school got so many terms to enroll into school of my choice for my kid? After all not that I did not pay school fees.

Nothing wrong with one wanting to enroll child into their school of \"choice\" but problem is, there are too many people, all also willing to pay school fees, having the same \"choice\"! :imconstipated:

Maybe having the phrase 2 on alumni or volunteer will leads to having more parents to do extra work to place their kids into the school they want, on top of the school fees. Unwilling parents might also do the \"volunteer\" work just because want to place their kids there :? Then shouldn't that rename the term \"volunteer\" :? Joining clan needs to pay money?

I do agree that phase 1 should stay but it can be tweaked to such that only siblings of current students from P1-P5 are allowed to apply..it does not make sense to include P6 coz then they would be in sec sch by then..

                I dO support this too

Wa even this tiny percentage of seats u also wana keh gao meh??????

I think restricting priority to only siblings of pupils currently studying in a school (up to p5) as one parent has suggested earlier is far-fetched. Does it really free up many more spaces for the other phases? I am all for alumni connection because my husband and I come from schools with a rich history but I cannot imagine restricting Phase 1. In fact, I feel that siblings of pupils who have studied at the school should also be placed in Phase 1 instead. Not all parents have children who are born just a few years apart. I remember my aunt telling me her classmateโ€™s mother gave birth in her 40s. At that time, that classmate was 17. Old enough to be a mother herself!

Yes I agreed. It in line with the government policy of having more children. Just because the age difference between the siblings is more than 5 years, the younger one lose the priority of getting into elder brother or sisterโ€™s school.

From my observation , the phrase 2A is not the issue. It is the phrase 2B especially the PV that cause a lot of grievance . Anyway, for popular schools . Balloting is required for 2B phrase even within 1 km, then abolish the PV including the GRL priority. PV complained as worked so hard n still cannot get in to the school. Then to be fair, ballot only at 2C phrase, purely by distance n by luck. Some schools already donโ€™t accept PV which I thought itโ€™s the correct way.

PV in phase 2B complaint because too many places are taken up in phase 1 and 2A and too few places are left for 2B and 2C. Between phase 1 and 2A, most think there are practical reasons to keep phase 1 but not necessarily 2A. Hence, on the contrary, many think 2A is the issue because too much priority were given.

Yes I think this is a concern because at the rate things are going for the popular schools, in ten years time, there will be hardly any places left for Phases 2B and 2C - the overwhelming majority of places at popular schools will be taken up at Phase 1 and 2A, leaving those with no previous affiliation to the school with no chance to get in at all. MOE probably recognizes this as a problem.
