      Good morning,

My daughters (turning 6 & 7 this year) are with the Torpedo swim team. I find them to be systematic and the coaches 'clicks' well with the children - Firm but nice. So, the children (even those who tend to be more playful) listens to the instructors. My girls enjoys their classes and looks forward for their swimming lessons.

They have classes on Sat and Sundays mornings and evenings. They might have other timings on other days as well - You have to chk.

You can contact them at 91277651.

      Thanks!

      Thanks for sharing your contact.

I can be reached at the number on my avatar. Public pool or condo pool coaching can be arranged. Thanks alot.

          Hi Sewzpassion

Have you send your son there already? if so, how do you find the classes?

i'm also interested in signing up my 6 yr old. my boy is rather sensitive to trying new things and according to what's posted on their website, the coaches seem to be well equipped with handling children.

if anyone has any experiences with this swim school, pls share... :thankyou:

my experience with my 2 gals, they can swim without a board after almost 1 to 2 months.

8 months is too long, this playing mode is not serious swimming enough

The coach might be too lax and so the children are not taking the lessons seriously. Especially when the whole class is like that. However, note that it also depends on the age of the child. I was told that the younger is the child, the longer they take to learn swimming. But for your DS who is already 7, he should be able to understand the instructions given by the coach.

My DS1 started lesson when he was 8 and after about 6 months, he was able to swim quite well. DS1 has phobia putting his head under water during the initial stage. For DS2, he started lesson when he was 5, but after 4 months, I see him still doing the same thing and the coach don't seem to push the kid if the kid is not willing to go the extra step, and he seems to let the kid play around. :moneyflies: I decided to change the coach. After changing for about 2 months, DS2 is now progressing well and can tell that he's improving.

For a normal 7 yr old this is not acceptable. Swimming coaches usually should look at the strokes, kick, build power or stamina, and the last 5-10 min will be some games. It is not play all the time. But how big is the class? If it is a very big class it may be a fun social but not necessarily good for picking up skills.

The class is not v big, average size but i noted that the coach takes in all kinds of level… i mean at the same time slot, there are kids like mine who hv been learning for more than 1/2 yr and i just heard fr my hubby that the coach also takes in new, young kids (beginner stage) so in a sense, everyone’s learning curve is different… how to teach in sync??..

Really thk i shd change coach soon… despite my DS’s strong objection…
                        Thanks all for your advice…
