Maid to get weekly rest days
-

Yap agreed. And the maid should be responsible for own their air ticket should they request themselves that they want to terminate contract less than 2 years. :rant:On top of scraping the levy, can maid's insurance follows her thoughout her 2 yrs contract when she change from one employer to another?
Each time a maid tells me she wants to transfer, immediately I lose a percentage of the insurance and I have to come out $ again to purchase a new policy for the next maid. What is this?!?! Government helping the insuance co. to suck $ from employers?!??!?! -

Everyone deserves their off days be it employers or maids. Since the new rule favours the maids, the Ministry of Maid oops I mean Manpower should also do something to make the employers happy. For eg. reducing the levy or scrap it totally.
I support this suggestion -

happy to be mum:
Yes scrap the levy! remove the security bond!
yes...seriously! They should scrap the crapy levy! come of think of it, want to take levy yet want women to continue working, want families to give procreate more, yet don't want to give more help. want teach less in school then parents have to outsource. on the pretext to help you manage your CPF monies when age 65. Our country gahment really runS our country like a companies and not from their hearts.
scrap the levy! -
Sigh! We can say as much as we want but nothing ever come true for us. I think the gov’t wants to wean us off maid’s.
-
If not I cannot think of any other reason why the gov’t not doing anything.

Don't think so. If they really wants to wean us off maids, they should be looking at improving the working hours of parents first. I'm sure a lot of us hopes to do without maid but have no choice due to the long/irregular working hours. -

To improve working hours is difficult lah. Because majority is PRIVATE company. Is out of control from government lah.peapot:

Interesting...l..happy to be mum:
I am okay to give every Sundays off as I have given my previous maid that and PH too...but with this new rulings, there will be loopholes when not good maids will be asking for compensation when they \"purposely\" don't want to go out on their days off. To me, days off = not at the place of work, that is your home. You think maid will feel comfortable to have days off at your home, during nothing and you cook and wash up?
I have this evil idea. :evil:
Cos of cost, I give her weekly off. If she doesn't want to go out so as not to spend $, then fine, stay at home and do nothing. But cos she stays home to eat, use water, electricity, my service to wash her dishes. Then please pay me for that. Fair?
Everything MOM works out is in favour for the maid. When does MOM consider for us employers!!!!! -
the govt doesn't have collective view of everything!
it's a case of:
- lack of babies
=> citizens, pls procreate
- lack of manpower
=> females, pls return to workforce
- complaints that school teachers overwork
=> Less teaching
- maids not getting off days, so getting rapped by ILO (international labor org)
=> implement off days for maids
The best part is:
* complaint abt levy
:siam:
* complaints about agencies
:siam:
Cos these 2 points are too much trouble and doesn't benefit them... Take away levy means :moneyflies: for them... Seriously, all the above points have impacts to each other whenever a policy is made... yet either they know and is acting blur, or they just do not care, or they somehow cannot see all the inter-connecting relationship between each of them?? i wonder which is the real reason!?!?!
