some sec schools started recruiting for sec one students while they are still in pri 5 by organising camps, courses, etc etc

don't be surprised that the principals actually talked to those who did well in the camp and courses and tell them something equivalent to \"if you put in the DSA form we will definitely offer you a place\"

so it is not too fat fetched for a kid to tell her / his friends that she / he has got a 'place' at so-and-so school via DSA. those camps and courses are meant to give them a distinct advantage...and these kids are pre-selected by the sec school based on certain criteria

      emmm...so jealous of these kids...hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... 😉

Actually, just wondering does almost all the DSA kids comes from the GEP class ? If they are, they should already be pretty good in their studies and should be able to get into the sec they want even they do not DSA ? Hmm....
No. Last year my DS class of 42, only a few did not get DSA offers from the top 10 sec school. the lowest score in his class was 249 without HCL. it is a mainstream class

BTW, I thought must DSA happened to GEP students only... mainstream got chance ah ? Your DD class has 42 students in a class ? So big class ah.. I thought 30 is the average class size?

Hi, I have some questions about DSA to RGS for GEP students:

          1) If the student takes Tamil/Malay MT (non-GEP, so it varies for every GEP school), does it count in the 80% that you need to get to skip GAT?

          2) If the student successfully skips the GAT but her personal statement is ‘unsatisfactory’, will she be rejected in the first round?

          3) During the second round, do they take their preferred subjects like the mainstream students or do they have a seperate ‘GEP’ category? If so, what does it consist of?

          4) If the answer to q3 is yes, if the student is unable to skip the GAT because of her grades but qualifies for the second round through GAT + personal statement, will she be considered a GEP student and take the ‘GEP’ category?

          5) If she does not qualify for DSA but gets a score of, like, 275 for PSLE and is accepted into RGS, will she still be considered a GEP student and go to a SBGE class?

          6) What is the policy in RGS? Will students be divided into SBGE/Non-SBGE during the first year itself or do they have to wait until Year 2? If they are in their first year, do they have to take another test or is it based on PSLE scores? Will former GEP students who got in via DSA and scored ‘average’ scores (250-low 260s) be automatically placed in SBGE classes?

                No idea.

GEP students do not take a second test.
                4) If the answer to q3 is yes, if the student is unable to skip the GAT because of her grades but qualifies for the second round through GAT + personal statement, will she be considered a GEP student and take the 'GEP' category?
                N.A.

There are no SBGE/Non-SBGE classes in RGS. Everyone does the same SBGE programme. What you might be referring to are the GEP classes. These are classes which comprise all GEP students plus the top scorers from mainstream.
