2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Pixiedust, if this is a killer paper, don't panic. Do you think MOE will fail bulk of the p6s?!
For maths, some of the known 'good in maths' were not able to complete the last few 5marks question. Some in the top class (not my son's class) hit 60+...........hence everyone is kind of in panic mode. So this is what the school wants to achieve ?
I am trying to stay objective but the sense of defeat is overwhelming ! *sigh*
You must stay cool in face of the whole madness... To do 60+ in killer papers to me is already good. But ask your son to learn time management strategies from this lesson. All the best for the subsequent SA.

Peony:
The teachers must be quite good then - very concerned and dedicated.
:boogie: so nice to see the teachers worrying more than me.
Am not being cocky, but it was strategic on my part to not even prod her for languages. Wanted her to freak out so that she would buck up. Never expected the teachers to freak out. :siam:
Well, sometimes I feel that these P6 teachers are also very stressed

I'm sooo happy for DS. He made a big improvement for Maths. Scored 74. Really clawed back up from SA2 flunking with 38 marks and after failing 2 weeks in a row with practice papers before the CA exam. These past 2 months of hard work has paid off. He has used the strategies I've specifically taught him and what he has learnt from the enrichment centre. His beaming face was really priceless to me. It's not so much the marks but how he described being able to apply what he has learnt and feeling motivated to continue the practice sessions.
Our strategies for science is also working so I'm going to intensify what we have tried so far. DS has performed up to expectations for science and considering we only put in 2 weeks of revision, it's really been great to see him still doing quite well.
English & Chinese were as expected borderline passes as we didn't do any revision there at all. Now time to start cranking up on the Language revisions. There's really so little time in a day. March holidays, it's time to plan & get cracking for the next hurdle SA1. Must come up with a 6 week plan.
I find this whole revision business a bit easier when I focus one week at a time, one subject at a time. Because we chose to focus on Maths & Science, we can see some fruits of our labour. Now really need to think about how to get better with the languages.
Hi beanbear, curious... What strategies you used for Math n sci that your ds has improved so much?
Congrat! Great effort u n ds have put in! -
Is good to know that the teachers are more "kancheong" than the parents. Perhaps the teachers have a set of KPI to achieve too:)

Can I check with all the P6 parents here. Do you allow your son to go out alone , after school ? My son is complaining that we dont give him freedom.

No. Out of the question. I think they are still too young to be able to handle situations and when they are out alone...how to trust that everything will be ok?
