\"There is a need to change Singaporeans' perception of neighbourhood schools, said Education Minister Heng Swee Keat in Parliament on Thursday.

Mr Heng said that as schools are geographically sited in neighbourhoods, they naturally draw students who live nearby. 'We have to ensure (that there are) good schools in every neighbourhood, and not use the term 'neighbourhood school' as an apology. So we must collectively change perceptions and change mindsets,' he said....\"

So it's all in the mind thingy... :faint: :siam:

There'll be no end in the debate of the term 'good'....all I can say is that all schools are NOT EQUAL or the same!!!

            I agreed!

Some school may have rich parent or association which can donate aka sponsor the school with lots of thing. Hence, the school will have more facility, teaching material etc etc. So how to be fair / equal?

Maybe itโ€™s time for reality check. We have leaders mooing until the cows come home but they donโ€™t have first hand knowledge of what we go through. Debate, discuss and diseminate with no real substance because they have not walked in our shoes.

Hereโ€™s the deal. Ballot and get some of our leaders to participate in either case study or better still, reality TV. Ballot since I doubt many would volunteer for this project.

If they have school going kids, get them transferred out to neighbourhood schools in all 4 corners of Singapore. Siblings can opt to attend same school. If they have younger ones, they join the rest in the P1 registration exercise. If they donโ€™t have kids of school going age, get their grandchildren. We will follow them for 1 year. The kids canโ€™t attend any enrichment outside school.

After that, they will share their experience. Sounds fun?

Interesting. And CNA or whichever station that produces this reality show can make money too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Why ballot? Am afraid there will be no takers la. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Since they like balloting so much... ballot for HDB, ballot for school, ballot for National Day tickets... So let them experience how it feels to want something soooo bad but have no control over outcome. In their case, gan cheong that they would be so lucky.

                        don't limit to schools..

They shd ballot(or lucky draw?) to get 1 years free public transport for their WHOLE family.

During this 1 year, they are not allowed to drive their cars. And maybe limit to 10 taxi rides per month (also free) in case of emergency.

                        Sounds good?
