these boys are smart too, such things are not unheard of.
Really? I thought it was the boys who pay the maids for their services, their handphones etc.LOLMum:
yeah they are paid instead.
read in papers that some maids were so in love with these boys that they were willing to pay for new phones, clothes and even gave $$ to the boys to send home.

I am now waiting for my refund from the maid agency because my ex maid threw in the towel and the replacement maid didn't turn up after 2 months of futile waiting. I insisted on canceling rather than choose another maid so I'll see what happens. If the agent delays I will have to approach these bodies.watervapourbaby:
It is already very frustrating for employers who have to go through all these but yet when we feedback to MOM, it seems like nothing can be done.
I wonder, who can speak up for us then?
i am not against giving maids day off. but there are many issues which employers have with their maids and have no one to turn to for help.
mom website said employers can approach these agencies for help.
but frankly these agencies are just giving employers the yo-yo treatment. none of them have spoken up for employers or fight for fairer treatment for employers.
Disputes with your Foreign Domestic Worker
Disputes might arise because of misunderstandings and differing expectations.
When these happen, you should first try to resolve them with your FDW. Even if there is suspicion that she might have committed a misdeed or crime, you should not take matters into your own hands by meting out physical or other forms of punishment.
If you need assistance, please contact your employment agency or MOM which offers help to resolve such employment disputes. The conciliation service is provided free-of-charge. Please contact MOM at 6438 5122.
Disputes with your employment agency
If you have found your agency's service unsatisfactory, or if you have a contractual dispute with your employment agency, you may seek mediation services from one of two accreditation bodies in Singapore, the Association of Employment Agencies, and CaseTrust. Complete and send the following form (mailing address inside) to MOM:
Feedback on employment agency
Issues for which you can seek assistance include:
•Delay in application/ cancellation/ placement of Foreign Workers
•Overcharging
•Refund of loan and fees
•Unsatisfactory level of services provided
To identity which accreditation body your agency is accredited with, please look up our employment agency directory. If your employment agency is not accredited with any accreditation body, you may approach CASE for assistance to resolve your disputes.

All in all, in the past 2 years I have been so inconvenienced in between changing a few maids. Almost cumulative of 8 months without a maid while all the procedure and application processes required such a long time. I have had to cut back on my own business to take care of my household. This is economic loss to me not to mention having to pay for all the crap that govt wants me to bear for the maids even when they choose to quit or cannot perform the job. -
That’s it… Beware the maids running wild…

Having maids who can clock in and out from 8-5 sounds great but do you think they will be prepared to work for $500 if they have to cover their own costs? The additional wages you would have to pay would far outweigh the current costs orne by the employer.

I am in almost the same situation as you. My maid just told dh that she wants to transfer out. I have called the agency and informed them that I want to do a refund instead of trying for the 3rd maid.

Give up absolutely! Not going to wait till 2016. But my concern now is my 2 younger dd#2 and ds who will be sitting for PSLE next year and 2015. Even so, I am going to tell myself that we are going to make it as a family, without the maid. -
Imagine within the next few months how the maids may be psychoing one another to find ways to get transfers out to kinder, more liberal employers…What strong measures will MOM take to penalise employment agencies and maids who have breached their contracts, leaving employers in limbo? Can we sue anyone for maid replacement costs, inconvenience, distress suffered by employers?
Sigh. Now am praying current helper will be sensible and not be influenced by some of the helpers out there who treat Singapore as a holiday destination…where one can work flexi hours, shop and perhaps engage in romantic flings, when bored, find an excuse and get free ticket back home and brag about their adventure here; when run out of money, return to this wonderland and get higher wages as agencies will recommend them as ‘ex-Singapore’ and get 4 off days every month, maybe find another bfriend(s) since lonely, no need to worry about food and lodging…yippeeee! -
In all likelihood, the policy makers have more than 1 maid at home so the helpers can rotate their offdays. Feel frustrated and lots of sympathy for families with very young, sick, elderly, disabled members. Just how many of them work normal weekdays or can afford stand-in help? Instead of imposing levies, then subsidising here and there to show that the govt understands the hardships families face, just do away with the levies totally. That would be genunine help. The bonds should also be scrapped, or borne by the employment agency. The maids are all consenting, mature adults so they should be treated as such. They are not our children or parents. How can we be held accountable for their decisions and actions? Why must we wait until a crime is committed for the maid to be then held responsible? And why would half the bond be forfeited when the maid chooses to run away and we have to hunt them down at our expense? Does it many any sense? Why does MOM and the NGOs think that employers work their maids like slaves and use corporate punishment on them? The majority of us don’t.
