Hi, would someone kindly help in these 2 questions:


b)There were 756 liters of water in Tank A and Tank B. There were 92 more liters of water in Tank A than in Tank B. The next day, some water was drained off from Tank A and Tank B. The amount of water drained off from Tank A was 1/4 of the amount of water drained off from Tank B. In the end, the amount of water left in Tank B was a third of the amount of water in Tank A. How much water was in Tank A in the end?

756-92 = 664
B: 664/ 2 = 332 litres
A: 332 +92 =424 litres

Given, The amount of water drained off from Tank A was 1/4 of the amount of water drained off from Tank B. In the end, the amount of water left in Tank B was a third of the amount of water in Tank A

mutiple Tank B by 3

332 x3 = 996

We will get

B: 3 Y + 12 units = 996

A: 3Y + 1 unit = 424

11 units ---> 572
1unit ---> 52
4 units---> 208

so, Y= 332-208 = 124

How much water was in Tank A in the end?

3 Y= 124 x 3 = 372 litres

Ali/ Bill X 100 = 555/ 1184 X 100
= 46.9%

Thanks a bunch Small... the working is very clear. DS had the same working but he tied himself up into knots because he worked with fractions instead of whole numbers like you did. He learnt the lesson that he should try to work with whole numbers in future. Valuable lesson.
