Normally during ICT camp, saw quite a number of NSmen actually wanted to eat the meal in camp. The taste is acceptable and they saved $$$$ then to eat outside.. youngsters nowadays don't appreciate.. maybe money come by too easy for them.

I know of one guy who didn't appreciate food until he joined the army. Cos they use up so much energy (he's a big eater), the food given to him in the army wasn't enough that he waited by the dustbin to finish up the food from whoever could not finish.

I remember some yrs ago a SG gangster was caught/shot/killed in MY and it was reported in MY that this guy was a M16 (rifle) specialist!!

I was like WT :censored: ! All SG guys who has gone to NS know the M16 inside out...we all M16 specialists wah!!!

I think our neighbours are quite aware of the fact that given a rifle, we guys are ready anytime!!

attacks do not necessarily have to come from an external force.

looking at our country now filled with so many nationalities, and the various (though not many) protest, confrontations organised by the ft, you never know when one of these confrontations would turn violent.

can our police tackle these problems alone? i dont think so.

Trolley bags? It’s a disgrace. When he’s in Primary school in 2014, I expect him to carry his school bag. Even now in kindy, he carries his bag.

aiyoh, i know the food standard in camp has improved greatly over the last few years. newspapers also got reports.

but still cant be comapred to the many types of food available outside lah.

maybe if all of us wrote to defense ministry to shorten NS or something.....

Taiwan already cut ns to 1 yr,

and it's not like we're surrounded by unfriendlies

We have the 4th highest defense budget per capita in the world

wonder what goes into all that money, eh?

But would shortening NS really help? Already they're rushing through some of the training like throwing live grenades in the first month or something. Wouldn't it be better to make sure they're properly trained rather than hastily trained? Less accidents if they're properly trained.
