How to find out these ?? Esp doctors , therapist are asking us parent to provide what problem n what strength our child has??! So funny ain’t they suppose to find out themselves esp they are specialist in this area. How we know how to judge from parent ?

That is why u need to work with your child. Surely the parents know their strengths and weaknesses. The dr probably only see them
Once or twice and they can’t draw such conclusions easily. We as parents see them everyday. If we don’t even know our children, how can we expect the drs to know? Unless like you said - absent parenting. -
What we judge is not what they think right ?
For instance . I say my son know how to speak in sentence then to them is parroting . I duno the term call parroting until they tell us.
So alot of such others terms may not know and we think our kids are fine -

It makes me wonder too when I filled up the forms ( at least 6 sets)last time.. (are they playing cheat?) I now realised that it would be be ineffective n inefficient for them to deduce what ur child needs. It would be very costly for the parents to bear especially when the consultations and assessment r charged by hour.
Each individual is different. Only a parent will know what are the most critical issues to tackle. It might be stimming, echolalia, spinning, hypersensitivity or hyposenstivity to stimuli, language skills, weak handwriting etc. unfortunately there's no one size fits all solution. Based on the critical issues raised by the problem, the therapist will observe the child more with regards to that issue and pinpoint the source of difficulty n plan to resolve it.
Eg I heard fr my OT that some parents brought their kids because of poor handwriting skills. It was after the observation that the therapist that the child has weak core muscles and unable to use the arm separately from the body. It might also be due to the eye unable to track effectively during copying.
Hope it give u some idea abt those forms... -
Some lazy or unprofessional doctors or therapist they will simply base on our input to conclude our child.

My son know what is carrot . At times he will imagine it as Ice cream cuz the bottom of carrot look like a ice cream cone. I say this is imaginary play. But they think otherwise.
I dun care what they think or what crap or theory or treatment or therapy … Bottom line is result n will u heal my son ?
Just like my son cough . Some doctor say is bronchitis , some doctor say asthma. I dun care as long if u able to stop my son cough what diagnosis doesn’t matter to me n I say u are a good doctor … -
It seems that you are not happy with the doctor. Please try to get second opinion if you are not comfortable with the current doc.

ASD is different from other conditions such as cough, flu, or bronchitis, which one can recover from. While ASD can be managed to extents depending on the severity of the condition, with intervention in speech, behavior and other areas, individuals with ASD will be different from neurotypical beings. Loosely speaking, there is no ‘cure’ to ASD.
In the current system of ASD diagnosis, doctors and psychologists fall back on surveys and interviews as part of their toolkit to assess a child for ASD. This is because ASD is a behavioral issue, and based on current knowledge surveys and interviews are the most appropriate tools so far. We hope that there are more specific diagnostics such as brain scans or blood tests, but these are currently not sufficiently evidence-based to be accepted by the medical fraternity. These are the constraints in the current system, but that is a reality of life.
Parents with ASD kids in general accept that their children will be different, and the aim is not to seek a cure but to help the child prepare to be independent and blend into the society at large. This itself could be a long-drawn, painful and tough process, which can at times be heartbreaking, frustrating and despairing, but unfortunately there is no short cut about it. Life still goes on. Its what we do to make the most out of it.

If u are unhappy with the dr, just get another one. The verdict will be the same if u stay with the same dr and u are hoping for something different. At the end of the day, what is important is not the verdict, it’s what else you do to help him. No point all talk no action. If u think the dr is not good, change. If the therapist has reached the limit of how much she can help, then change the therapist.
And of course, drs will base a lot of their verdict on what u tell them. That’s why it is important that u write some notes yourself before seeing the dr on any points u want to tell the dr. Your kid’s behaviour during the clinic appt may not be typical and not representative of how he usually behaves so what u say is very important. I don’t think it’s fair for you to say that the dr is not good because he based everything on what u said.
Using your comparison, when u see a normal pd, don’t you tell the dr that your kid has cough, runny nose etc? U don’t bring him there and tell the dr, u find out what’s wrong with him. He may not be vomiting in the clinic but that doesn’t mean he isn’t. So the dr will use what u said as a base. If you have been totally honest and detailed in what u said to the dr, then it’s not wrong for the dr to base his verdict on that. -
Thanks I have decided to change doctor . Also I have dropped Leo magan too.
All these special needs really come without special price !!! Wonder how pp with financial problem get help…
Gosh is it another kind of "Opportunity of trade"…
