So does it mean PR still got priority in phase 1 and 2A? There isnโ€™t balloting in these 2 phases.

I thought most PR parents' children are Sgp citizens? Anyway, children are allowed to have dual citizenship until age 21/22, at that point they'll have to chose one. However boys still have to do NS as a dual citizen (unless they leave the country at age 11 or 13, I think), while there are really no disadvantages for girls to be dual citizen.

Anyway, this action by MOE is expected, since it is totally in line with govt's move to increase distinction of benefits between citizens/PR (including medical subsidy, school fees, etc) in recent years.

No leh, my ex-collegue is a PR (both hubby & wife), their kids all PR status not SG citizen.

        citizenship is a privilege

not freely given when both parents are non-citizens even if the child is born in singapore, else another cry father cry mother episode

:? so pr has no chance of getting in at any phase at all (in popular schools) except at phase 3 which is for foreigners.

pr still hv priority, ie p1,p2a1, p2a2 and p2b.....over singaporeans register during the last phase...

it is a mistaken belief that PRโ€™s kids are citizens. They are NOT if both parents are non-citizens even if they are born in Singapore

children born outside singapore of singapore citizens do not become citizens automatically too.

The answer is yes. No balloting require. PR parents can easily register their kids to be Citizen in this case. The Citizen rule is applicable to parents or the children?

So will there be a surge in pr converted to spore citizen during these few mths? How long is the process to convert? Maybe moe announces so early to giv ample time for pr to consider converting to spore citizen b4 pri 1 registration this yr..

some PRs will just quit singapore, it will be singapore's loss in the long term, esp those we need the most, in exchange for some Pri One places for citizens

approval process can be one year or more, depending on individual cases and standing, and assessment of economic contribution

it is not a conversion. no such thing.

it is an application for citizenship
