Many cases of NS boys dying...are you worried for your boys?

I feel that NS shd be lengthened.. 2 years too short.. maybe 2.5yrs like last time to adequately train them.. and also to provide a meaningful armed forces.


As for reservist, maybe cut short so that male citizens are not too disadvantaged against FTs..

If you cut full time NS to say, 1yr, you release them to the work force earlier..

But they cannot find jobs bcoz employers don't like their employees always missing for few weeks every year.. what's the point..

Might as well release them later, and let them have gainful employment, and don't disturb them too much.

Serve 2.5 years also at disadvantage against FT. Then male will be older then can join workforce, age will be disadvantage :? Not only that, what about their education studies? If to serve 2.5years, then education study how?

No I still think cases like these are more the exception than the norm. I have uncles, bros, cousins, hubby n classmates who have gone thru NS and they completed their stint uneventually. If anything I find them more manly after NS. Hopefully the NS period can be further shortened to 1 yr instead of 2 when it's my boys turn. I am ok with them doing their national service. I trust the sons of this country to defend and protect us more than anyone else.

For me, I don't think serving NS will make males more manly. Manly is more to do with own character. But going NS might make one more fit since training. Just my thought.

Wondering anyone go NS, and end up having bad habits :?

Yalor, get all male FT to do 13 years of reservist nall Ft's sons to serve 2.5yr of NS before granting citizen ship. Or get them place a huge bond until commitment is fulfilled. :celebrate:

Everyone I know that attends reservist says its a bl%%dly waste of time.

Anyone would be worried.

Just imagine if you have lost a son (your only child) in NS to an training "accident". How would you feel about the entire idea of NS?

Beyond NS deaths, what about chronic injuries acquired during NS?

I know of many healthy friends and family that has entered NS with hearty vigor to serve their country. After 2 years, some has left NS with painful injuries that persist till this day.

You may say those injuries are inevitable part of training to defend our nation. But when those painful injuries persist into the fragile golden years … chronic back pains, knee and shoulder injuries (to name a few)- one will begin to question if it is all worth it.
