The class is not v big, average size but i noted that the coach takes in all kinds of level… i mean at the same time slot, there are kids like mine who hv been learning for more than 1/2 yr and i just heard fr my hubby that the coach also takes in new, young kids (beginner stage) so in a sense, everyone’s learning curve is different… how to teach in sync??..

Really thk i shd change coach soon… despite my DS’s strong objection…
      Thanks all for your advice…

Happy Fish provides good swimming instructors. Professional teaching and very fast. I am learning with my daughter and she is improving very fast!

Oh dear, i must consider changing a swimming coach. My elder girl has been learning for 3 years +, till now not able to swim well (9 this year). I already told the coarch that she is taking too long. $$$ and time wasted. My younger girl follow her sister everytime n till now head dare not go into the water.

I think the coach is too lax.

From my experience, I think that a strict coach can work wonders, but parents must be able to take the protests and crying from the child when he is being pushed out of his comfort zone. The coach I engaged earlier was "too nice", and DS1 enjoyed his swimming lessons (because it was more like play time). He did learn, but at a much much slower pace. DS1 who started lessons when he was 5 started learning the strokes of "free style" only after 1.5 years with that coach, so he was swimming with his board for a long time.

We changed to a stricter coach, and DS2 who turns 5 this year started learning the strokes of free style after 2 months. This coach made him swim laps continuously even when he protests and cries (he complains that he is tired). I was very tempted at first to pull him out of the course as I watched him "suffer" during the lesson. But now after 2 months, his stamina has improved and he is learning well, so I am glad we persevered.

Hi, just to share my experience. My elder son started swimming lessons when he was about 6+. He sent several months and still cannot swim, so we changed coach/pool. After several weeks, he seemed to get the stroke ok but still cannot swim for more than a few strokes (breast stroke) without stopping. I was wondering why. When one day I was with him at a hotel pool, and I had the chance to watch him closely. Then I realised his problem was the coordination between stroke and breathing. So I taught him on the spot. And he immediately picked up and in the same pool, he could swim the whole breath of the pool. From then, he improved tremendously and now can swim non stop for several laps. He is 8 now and he has learned back stroke, free style and now the coach is starting to teach butterfly.

I think now i have to change to a strict coach. Any recommendation? We are staying in SengKang. I do not want to spend more $$ and time on that coach when my girls not able to swim after 3 years +++.

Hi, you can actually go to any swimming pool (preferably weekends) and observe the coaches there and see which ones are strict (very easy to identify). However, do take note that kids would likely lose interest if they do not like the coach, unless the kids are very motivated to this sports.

                      Hi

My 4yr ds has been learning swimming for a month, and seems quite alright with e instructor. We are moving from pasir to Haig rd area, and I’m looking for another 3 kids to form a swim class. He charges 60 per month if there are at least 4 kids in class. Pls let me know if interested.

                      Thank you.
