Intermezzo:
and in the Open Section, Ms Zhang Aidi (RI) came in 2nd after Lim Jeck, beating all the other 5 boys who were on this year's IMO dream team... wow

She is good.
Lim Jeck too. I always see their names on the lists.

MandyMummy:
she's from China but i think probably at least a Singapore PR by now, since she has represented Singapore in a few international competitions, and is also in the singapore's National Team training for IMO..Intermezzo:

She is good, isn't she? She represented RI in the 2011 China Girls Mathematical Olympiad and is the first gold medalist from Singapore.
Is she a local or a PRC scholar?
a very talented young lady who is also one of the top young pianists here ~

Are the 2011 SMO results used to select the training team for the next IMO? If so, which one, SMO (senior) or SMO (open)?

hi MandyMummy, from what i can gather from ds it is the SMO (Open) Special Round that carries lots of weight for getting into the national training team.
i think it's best that you also check with the trainers / teachers in case i got the wrong info..
-
Just to clarify, the journey towards national team can start as early as from SMO Junior.
ie. those who do well in SMO Junior can go for the Junior Team training, and from there they work their way up the hierachy:
Junior Team training -> Senior Team training -> National Team
(selection tests are held between each level for promotion into the next)
And to be promoted from senior team into national team, the main criteria is the results from SMO Open, Special Round (as stated in my above post).
hope this helps ~ -

Thanks MandyMummy ~ yes ds enjoys math very much

Dunno if he'll ever get into nat team, but to him it's the process that's fun, and that's good enough for us ~ -
Hi mummies! Iām super kiasu. My eldest son is in K1.
May I know how you nurtured your child(ren)'s interest in Math at preschool?
