      Hi Mummies,

Any ideas on the school bus? When can we book the school bus. There’s no school bus representative last Sat on the school bus service… that means we have to look under website to look for and book the school bus?

I’m quite worried about DS next year when he starts P1. Don’t know if he is able to cope with his school work and if he will lose all his things - cos he is such a scatterhead to missing his school bus home! Worst, I can’t be with him on his first day of school…

Hi, need some advice. I heard from my son’s form teacher that children in GEP program will not be taught on maths & science syllables. The children will only be spending time on doing projects. & because of this, most GEP students couldn’t do well in PSLE. Is it true? No matter how gifted the children are, shouldn’t the GEP teachers also go through the maths & science topics? I couldn’t imagine how is my son going to know about digestive system if the teacher does not teach him & expect him to go in depth. Beside this, currently, when the children are in the mainstream, the teachers will let them practise maths & science assignments. Does that mean that in GEP, there’s no practise on such at all? Intend to send my son to Henry Park. Is there any parent with children in Henry Park to share your experience. worrying mum…

It's not true that most GEP students couldn't do well in PSLE. most of them do pretty well. At least for Henry Park, last year top student with 280+ (can't recall the exact score), was from the GEP.

I know that GEP students only start to prepare for PSLE beginning of P6. I don't have any GEP kid. But my daughter's class inter-mingled with the GEP class for HCL, so I know at least, they do \"study\" according to the HCL textbook and do the same practice and tests.

As for Maths and Science, they do them at higher level (more depth) than the rest of the cohort.

Hiya... Pls goto this link and download the file: http://www.henryparkpri.moe.edu.sg/wbn/slot/u1674/others/Bus_Operators2008%282%29.pps

I have already secured the transport for my son for next year when he goes to Pri 1.

The bus driver gave my son a name tag which he has to wear for first 2 weeks or so, so that the bus driver will be able to recognise my child. I believe the practice shd be the same, the bus driver will bring the kids to the hall during the first 1-2weeks and the teachers will bring the kids to the school bus at the end of the day so that they can board their bus.

The bus driver told me, HPPS insists all school buses to be in the school compound by a certain time, then the school gates will close. The school gates will open and the buses only start to leave when ALL the kids have boarded their buses. This may take a longer time for the kids to reach home but I think this is safer for the kids as everyone has to be on board their buses and doors closed before any bus can leave the school compound. 😄

intending to register my son for P3 GEP. FT WORKING. Is there any after school care (walkable distance ) from Henry park.

Hi leeven, there is one at Ghim Moh community club (or maybe it's called Ulu Pandan Community Club) . If you want to walk, it will take about 10 - 15 min. Many children staying around that area walk to and from school. But if it rains, it will be tougher, cos' there isn't any shelter walkway, so need an umbrella.

              hope this helps.

The student care is under Little Skool House. It's walkable but I wouldn't recommend that. Why not train him on how to take public transport? It's probably 2-3 bus stops away.

Thks for the info, Lizawa. I'm staying at Bukit Batok. Realised that there are a few school bus that travel to Bukit Batok area. Can someone tell me what time will the school bus pick up the children in this area. & which school bus will pick up the children for 3pm & 5pm? Understand some of the enrichment class & CCA ends after 3pm.. so am afraid my child will miss the bus & have to wait for the 5pm bus. Please advice

                  Hi!

my son will be in P1 next year too and we also registered under phase 2A1. have you gotten the books uniform etc yesterday?
hi! DS will be in class 1H nx yr. i've gotten the uniforms when we placed orders for the name tags at baba & bibi.

as for books, i've placed the order online but can anyone advise how useful will those optional-reference books be? :?

If they are optional-reference books, they won't be used by the school teachers. If you purchase them, you then have to use them at home, in guiding your child.

                      Hi Zack,
Thanks for the link. I've called 3 operators and all 3 do not want to confirm my seat. They told me that they can only confirm with me nearer to school reopens! Oh dear, what if they all told me that they are not able to give me a seat then how is my ds going to school? Even though we are quite near to the school, I cannot trust him to walk to school by himself. He is so playful and I'm worried about him crossing the road, Holland Road - where most cars speed. i'm really worried.

The school system of picking up the kids and dropping the kids off is good. I think its very safe to do this way.

Can you tell me how much is your bus operator charging you?

                      Thanks for sharing!

This is funny... thot many would want to firm you up fast lest you go to other operators?

Mine is 140 two-ways... think the fare depends on location/distance and whether need to go into ERP zone.
