S'poreans to get priority for P1 places during balloting
-
verykiasu2010:
You are saying \"tiong\" and \"abnn\" and \"pinoy\" is akin to same meanings as \"dogs\"?
this is where double standard is : we see such remarks freely floating and we demand for the \"blood\" of someone who mentioned \"dogs\".....sounds like the pot calling the kettle ......\"eh, you so black, huh ?\" .... ooops another 'racist' remark ....
Sorry, we're on very very different frequency and I totally disagree with what you say.
Tiong, abnn and pinoy refers to humans. Tiong is hokkien for \"Zhong\" of \"Zhong Guo\", which means China in hokkien.
I'm not sure how abnn (maybe related to clothing?) evolved but pinoy likely come from the word Filipino.
These words normally have some basis.
Calling someone a human term with basis is different from calling someone an animal. -
SAHM_TAN:
I never realise we are such a nationalistic lot
due to vested personal interest -
verykiasu2010:
but sorry hor, the same privilege is extended to SPRs
Ya-hor .. I forgot about that. -
verykiasu2010:
Yes, after P1 reg... The nationalistic lot will fade away...SAHM_TAN:

I will understand for those parents registrating from this year onwards... more anxiety.
Those not, or had missed the boat... No point adding fuel to fire...
:celebrate: -
a certain amount of nationalistic fervor is good, but not excessive or being blindly nationalistic resulting in more harm than good

agree!!! before we say others we have to first ask ourselves if we r doing the right thing too.
agreed with what you say but sometimes, the behaviour of singaporeans when they are touring overseas make you want to find a hole and just disappear from among themphtthp:
each time no matter which country we go for a term break holiday, i always look forward to flying home. proud to be an SC.
Singapore, our home SWEET home.
okay this another topic for another day :offtopic: :snooze:
one of my colleauges often ask this question: if you go to public toilet and accidently pee on the surrounding, will you clean it? on the contrary if you do the same thing at home, will you clean it?
so i guess this is human being. I often see singapore cars throwing rubbish out of the windows on the highway in malaysia (whether they are malaysian or singapore i don't know) and one of my friends used to say this to me: in singapore I will be fined, in malaysia no, even if there is, it's nothing to me, ringgit is so cheap. I almost wanted to drill a hole for my head when we are being horned by other cars.
this will happen everywhere in the world, it is self discipline that counts. there are always good and bad SCs and FTs. -

Just like we call them PRC and not dogs or pigs. And PRC derived from Peoples Republic of China, in case you don't know. -
I seldom travel, but when I hear the captain announcing that the plane is going to touch down at Changi Airport, I feel a sense of home already.
Giving priority to SC is long overdue. -

abnn, kek leng kia, oh peh are all racist words which i think should not be appearing at all in the society.
abnn : derived from the tone of how they speak ....... neh neh neh.
kek leng kia: derived from the sound of the cow bell.
oh peh: derived from the colour of the skin.
also ti ko: which is very very bad word which i don't think i would like to explain here. those who are hokkien should know the meaning.
sometime i really wish that these words will vanish one day. our great grand parents have done wrong, we shouldn't have follow them. we are now living in multi society country, we should be hand-in-hand and make our daily life happy and stress free be it PRs/FTs/SCs. only this can make singapore prosper. government has seen this problem and have been trying to integrate them together but still see both side unwilling to accept each other, some will say why not he started to change first, if no one taking the first step, who will?
sometimes i ask myself, what do i want achieve in my life? Money but not happy? happy but no money? rich but living in the old folks home, while children are capable of taking care of me?
for me, stay happy and healthy with family and neighbours is my goal in life, don't have to be rich but enough for some savings will do. so what is yours? -
now have to learn teenagers’ language liao lah.
ROLOL- the meaning?
