      why her daddy against it???

Daddy gives us a long lecture on why academic excellence is not everything and does not guarantee success in life. Also, he has heard too much \"horror stories\" from friend whose child is in GEP.

She could go for the GEP tests coz I did the \"sneaky\" thing of signing the form and asking her to submit without showing the daddy.

      Hi
      Just give a contrasting view.
The son of my friend also got a chance into GEP.
      However he turn it down
But this does not deter him to score 262 at PSLE, Platinum in Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad, enrolled into one of the top Boy school, scoring nearly all A1 for all subjects and is school rep in gymnastics.
However it will be a pity to miss the opportunity not to enroll into GEP program.
The program open up window of opportunity more than just academic aspect.
      Cheers.

Am tearing my hair now. I’m choosing which school to go to and Tao Nan is one of them. However, I heard some not so positive stories about the school. Parents whose kids have gone thru or are going thru the Tao Nan GEP programme, could you share with me if these are true:

        a. Is it true that Tao Nan drills the kids like crazy. And that there is a lot of homework. On average, how much time is needed for homework on a daily basis??

        b. Is it true that there’s so much work, it’s not possible to excel in both studies and sports at the same time in Tao Nan. Because it is not possible to juggle both GEP work and the 3 times a week school team training.

        c. Is it true that If kid lags behind in Tao Nan, the school will give a ‘warning’ call the parent to ask parent and kid to buck up. And if kid’s results continue to be not so ideal, kid is out of the school.

        Kindly shed some light.

        Thanks!!!

          Hi,

Thanks for your advice. I do hope my husband will see things from a new perspective after the briefing. 🙏

          Cheers.

                Herbie:
I heard of one case, stay at Katong, 1st choice ACS and 2nd choice CH. And he got in CH instead.

then I think they also see the location .

                    KSP:
What if one from RGPS apply for 1st choice NYPS, 2nd choice HPPS and got rejected by both schools? Will she get a place back in RGPS GEP or RGPS mainstream?

                    offcourse RGPS GEP.

                        hi freckle mama,
my kid's from taonan. check out my feedback on http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/gep-or-not-gep-perspectives-gep-parent

GE students are not drilled regardless what school they are in. If you're referring to PSLE drill, it only starts in P6 June. pm me if you need more details abt the school.
