I would prefer to put my girl in St Nicholas Girls but we are not within the 2km range. Is it too late to sign up as a PV?
Yes it is too late. PV starts July this yr and should finish by Jun next yr. You should be apply for PV last yr. However, it does not mean you apply you get it.
Which phase does it falls in the registration if we are PV not within the 2km range
If you are PV and outside 2km, you belong to phase 2B.
And based on past statistics, what are the chances of getting a place in that phase?
I didn't look at this sch's past stat. But it is reasonable to say that sch try to admit same no. of PV as possible vacancies but they can't tell no. of RC / grassroots volunteers. If more PVs than vacancies, then ballot.
As we are staying in Sengkang, the nearest schools in my area are Anchor Green & Nan Chiau.
Nan Chiau is a good sch. Go for it.
can I still qualify for this if I want to use my sibling's address to register my girl in the school that is within 1km of their address??
No. Declaration only for grandpartents. Registration requires birth cert which show your add and the relationship of child to you.

Thanks caroline3sg. I just called up Nan Chiau to enquire. The PV is closed. I will fall under phase 2C below 1km which still need to ballot.

Based on this year's stats under that phase, the vacancies is abt 30%.

        😢

Any idea if ACJC is affiliated to MGS???

If I'm not wrong, all Methodist schools are affliated to ACJC. PLMGS, Geylang Methodist, ACS, Fairfield, etc. I know PLMGS confirm is affliated.

            incredigal:
Hi all, my girl is due for P1 in 2013 (3 yr old now) and I was an ex-student of Nanyang Pri School (NYPS). Shld I use \"ex-student\" category/alumni to get my child in the school? I was actually advised not to (by a teacher friend) as NYPS is very demanding and places too much unnecessary stress on children to excel. But I can see that there are alot of parents who are trying every way possible to get into school! Your thoughts?

My boy will be in P1 in 2014. He's 2+ now.

I've actually started searching for info about PV, etc etc. I shared my frustrations here before.

After all that frustration, I found out my hb is old boy of NYPS. Really want to bang my head!

Then alot of things came into our minds:
            - Is it very stressful for my boy?
            - Is the distance too far?
            - Will my boy be able to cope in SAP school when he does not speak a word of mandarin at all?

As a family, we've decided that he'll go to NYPS when the time comes. So we're all geared up to start preparing him NOW.
He's attending chinese classes, I'm preparing alot of materials to teach him from home too.
My parents have graciously volunteered to ferry him around when the time comes (my dad is semi-retired already, my mum is planning for retirement now).
I'll most probably be a SAHM if finances permit or continue with tuition (but take in lesser students) so that I'll have more time to monitor my boy's work.

As I mentioned before, every child has a different stress appetite. I can see that my boy has high stress appetite. His pre-school & enrichment teachers have all commented that he'll cope well in high stress environment & is an independant learner. So hopefully he'll cope well & not be like his daddy!

My hubby is an old boy of ACJC. Just wondering if he will be eligible for Phase 2A2 for MGS???

Does it mean that if he joins the ACJC Alumni, we will be Phase 2A1??
Btw, we do not fall in the 2km range.
              :?

For P1 registration, they only look at you & your hb's PRIMARY SCHOOL. Sec & JC does not count.

I know of someone who is ACJC old boy, join Alumni but volunteer & help at ACS(J)'s BB. Though he did not manage to successful register his son during P1 registration to ACS(J), his boy got transferred in and started school on the same day as other boys on the first day of school šŸ™‚ I don't know if his volunteer services helped with the speedy transfer.

                  hi mrswongtuition,

does that mean that if he joins his alumni (ACJC), will he still be eligibe for P2A1 though u mentioned that they only look into our primary school and not SEC & JC? We are considering MGS for our girls.

                  :?

Hi! What MrsWong meant was that if your alumni is sec sch or JC, even pri sch with the same name will not get you into P2A1. You must join alumni of the PRI SCH and to do so, you must be old boy/girl of THAT pri sch.

MrsWong's example is based on \"luck\", I guess. Perhaps that father made a good impression or perhaps it was more to luck that his son was on the waiting list and there was a vacancy.

Hope this clears up your doubts. šŸ™‚

No such luck twinnies mummy. I'm an old boy of ACS Secondary. But it doesn't qualify my boy for P2A, regardless I join the alumni or not.
