Mashy,
Its a 1-1 without me inside leh. And its on weekday. I full time working mother. Hence my maid bring him. I am going to change to sessions to evening / weekend slots so I can be around to know whats going on as well.
Can you share what is being conducted in your SLT sessions? You get to sit inside as well? -

Hi nugget, my heart goes out to the parents whose kids are facing similar situations. I have a friend whose kid has been diagnosed of autism and over the years, it just get harder and harder to live in Singapore that they are considering migrating. Temple Grandin has gone through a lot in her younger days, and kudos to her teacher, her mother, and her own self-determination. IHi concern2,
Yes, I came across her name numerous times. She is \"hope\" that we have for our kids to grow up successful like her. But sometimes I wonder how many of the ASD kids will be like her.
Sigh, in Singapore is very hard to get acceptance. Did you notice the news lately? When they say ASD adults can work, all of them are usually in service in working as waiters or bakers. How my son can survive on that salary next time. Sigh sigh sigh... Endless worry!
I'd say Temple Grandin brings light to the uncertainty of the uncommon mind.
If you watch the video on her speech, she said something like \"...when more of them should be in Silicon Valley\". It takes talent to identify another talent. I am afraid we may be short of such talents to do that here - esp when there is so much emphasis on tests n exams and going into the best schools. -

I'm a SAHM, so I went in for the sessions. Hard to say what is being conducted in the sessions coz it changes with time and needs. Usually, they will play a game and get my boy to perform a task. Eg, when it was articulation, she will ask my boy to pronounce a particular sound. If he succeeds, he gets a game piece.Mashy,

i agree, this is also one of my main worries. while the education for special needs children seem to be leveling up, the same does not appear to be the case for jobs for ASD adults.Hi concern2,

Ya. Hope our kids will grow up to be like our weird weird colleagues. At least they are more independent and can support their family.

Oh dear now I start to get worried. Is it once enrol to eipic they already being labelled n can’t be weird weird colleagues ?!?!?
-
Any idea in Singapore record any ASD make it to nus or ntu?
-
Actually my boy loves Eipic instead of going his regular child care. EIPIC is like a holistic center that teaches them OT, SLT, Social Skills, communication skills etc. Class size is very small and they enjoy it a lot.
They need to be diagnosed as ASD before they can enter and some EIPIC centre have very long waiting list.
Ya the labelling part is a bit hard to swallow but we dun need to declare to anyone if we don’t want to when they go Primary 1 or what.
They still have a chance of becoming "weird weird colleagues". They are still young and now early intervention is the best therapy for them.
