Glad about the new P1 registration policy. At least now the govt really considers 'Singaporeans FIRST'. And rightfully. But wonder how much impact it will have on some elite schools like MGS, ACS etc?
Do you think they will show the statistic of the number of PRs vs citizens for each school? If its shown that schools like ACS has a large number of PR, then there is a high chance that with the change in policy, we can take a gamble, heng heng may get a slot.

Really alot of fine tuning to go. There are some grey areas.
For example, if the school choose a PR volunteer staying 1km from the school.
Will the PR volunteer has more priority than a non volunteer citizen staying say 1-2Km from the school?
pv (regardless of nationality) is under phase 2b. so yes this pr volunteer staying within 1 km has priroity over a non volunteer citizen staying within 1km (dont need to be 1-2km) because this non volunteer citizen comes under phase 2c. however if this non volunteer citizen living within 1-2km is a church/clan member or gr, then this non volunteer citizen has priority over the pr volunteer.
Or if the PR has a sibling in the school, will he be given more priority than a citzen (without sibling)?
if the pr has a sibling in the school, he would automatically be given a place under phase 1
Seems to me that this Singaporeans First policy now is only applicable if you are competing with a PR in the same phrase.
If the PR is in say, phrase 2B while a citizen is in phrase 2C, PR will also be given more priority than citizen.

For the coming 2012 P1 registration, i hope that all the schools will only acknowledge parent together with the child to be a SC and not one parent is a SC and the other is a PR than they will be given the absolute priority.

Do we really want that? Not all SC + PR parents are so by design. Some are given no choice. For instance a SC marrying a foreigner. The spouse will not automatically be given SC. As such their children cannot be SC?
