I'm having the same problem with my daughter too. Their cca is always having last minute annoucement on the fb instead of putting up advance notices in the respective cca notice board (if they still have it). This made them failed to plan an event well in advance and relying on fb to message to members last minute.
Sigh...sometimes I wonder over relying on such technology is it really good?daranic:
I wanted to ban her from fb but she said sometimes her classmates will make annoucement on fb. I wanted confiscate her hp but she said the same things like her senior will text her if there is a need to inform her anything regarding cca. and I know what she had said is the truth cos I have read her sms before. Any parents having same problem as me!
Is your DD in sec 1? Do you mind if i check whether aside from doing her sch homework, does she do any assessment book or tuition? How does your dd revise all other subject especially history and lit? I find that sch is not doing enough as there is hardly any homework for them(except Maths) and my dd does not even bother to make her own notes or revise on her own. I am really very worry. Any advice from parents? -
Hi everyone,
I’m currently exploring options for my DD who’s taking her PSLE this year and would like to know more about Cedar? Based on some conversation i had with some friends, they seem to feel that Cedar tend to focus quite a bit on sports and the girls are generally quite sporty…any comments?
My DD is not the sporty type at all and i worry if she would be able to fit in the school?
TIA -
I’m not a sporty type either, but I had no problem with fitting in the school. I think it helps that my class had no one from the sports cca. But that’s not to say there wasn’t anyone who’s good in sports. I do know that some teachers play favouritism and tend to favour the athletes, giving them a lot of leeway. Then again, there’s always favouritism everywhere. I think the only time which will be a problem would be jogging. However, we were very bonded as a class and we would jog as a class, the fastest slowing down for the slowest to catch up, and always cheering and encouraging one another on, so what I thought would be a dread every week became something that was actually quite pleasant and fun, especially in sec 4 where the stress is really great. It’s a very good way for us to relax a little and have fun.

It's ok Bestmark. My daughter is in sec 1 too. As we stayed in Tampines, so by the time she reached home especially Wed and Thurs after CCA, it will be very late. After dinner and bathing, she got to start doing her homework. Lots of it, include all subjects even for art (first term) and now D&T. After homework, there isn't much time or rather no time left for assessment books or revisions.
When my eldest son in Victoria last time, he got much more time to revise and do assessment books besides homework, but maybe because of the distance and late dismissal time (Cedar).
Yes, maths lots of homework including the Maths Olympaid on Thurs. My daughter failed her Literature but History still ok for her. That's nothing I can do now except to insist that she do her homework faster so that she can have some time left for revision and assessment books.
Literature is very difficult - 1st term Drama, now Poetry. My son didn't go into such detail during his time in VS (5 years ago). I can see how the syllabus have changed over the years.
I'm also equally worried about how is she going to cope well in Cedar. Did she made the right choice? Sorry for the long reply and oh my daughter does not have any tuition.Bestmark:

My DD is happy in Cedar and she is is NOT the sporty type. While the girls may have to participate in more sports related events such as cross country runs as compared to other schools, I think that this is good as otherwise non-sporty type like my DD will not do any other exercise on her ownHi everyone,

I don’t quite understand the HMT teacher required the students to do an initial draft for the Chinese compo online and submit to her for approval and checking (min 400 words). Thereafter then write in the Chinese compo book after her approval. This process of Chinese input into the laptop takes a long time and I wonder how will this help in the actual O level exam where speed and accuracy counts.
-
Hm ask the teacher directly? My teachers never asked us to type our compo. In fact typing is actually discouraged by my teachers simply because we can’t type during exams. We also didn’t have such thing as a first draft, but just submitted the completed essay directly.

:whut: my chinese teacher requested to submit our compos to her via email.i thought everybody would do the same. -
Is this like the new requirement or something? I graduated last year so I don’t know if maybe this is something new. But I must applaud the teachers for being so hardworking as to mark a draft, and then mark the completed essay. My teacher barely even marked any of my work.
