The daughter wanted SBS to pay for sending the body back to Malaysia, but SBS told her to \"submit a proposal\" to the management. I feel that SBS ought to do what little they can for the victim and her family as a goodwill gesture. The company can't help it when accidents happen, but it can show some compassion for the family members.

As for reckless driving, the perpetrators are drivers of various cars and not just sports cars. I had a close shave when the cab I was in nearly collided with another car, which had suddenly turned right without checking for oncoming vehicles.
Thumbs down on this one, SBS! Has the victim's family resorted to suing SBS for this? Perhaps they should.

Updated. SBS is paying after all. Kudos to them for the prompt response.

Haha! Was just updated on this too:

SINGAPORE: SBS Transit said it is willing to pay for all funeral expenses, including repatriation costs, incurred by the family of a Malaysian who died in a bus accident in Sengkang on Tuesday.

66-year-old Chan Ah Yong died at the scene after she was hit by an SBS Transit bus while crossing the road.

SBS Transit's senior vice president for corporate communications, Tammy Tan, said the company spoke to Mdm Chan's son-in-law on Wednesday to tell him that the company would foot the bill.

However, before SBS Transit could convey the offer, Mdm Chan's son-in-law told the company to call him again next week.

SBS Transit said it respected his request as it did not want to impose on the family during their time of grief.

However, some media reports gave the impression that the family may have a mistaken impression that SBS Transit is still undecided on whether to pay for the funeral costs.

SBS Transit has decided to clear the air on the issue, to ensure that the family does not have this matter weighing further on their minds.

The company has since contacted Mdm Chan's son-in-law again to inform him that all costs related to the funeral will be borne by the bus operator.

SBS Transit also told him that he can contact the company anytime for assistance.

The company said it is deeply saddened by this accident and is doing all it can to help the family during this difficult time.

\"We know nothing we do or say can change the fact that a life has been lost and a family is in grief. We can only say we are very, very sorry and will do whatever we can to assist the family during this difficult time,\" Ms Tan said.

I always think why LTA doesn’t implement mandatory red/green arrow for all junctions, so there will be no guessing or misjudgement when drivers making right turn. This will help to avoid a lot of accidents and disputes.

Should have a rule that once light turn orange, vehicles should slow down and stop.

Just now got a motorcycle rushing to cross when the light already turn green man for pedestrians to cross.

Some motorcycles also driving in walkways. Why nobody catch them :?

Ya, was so shocked when I was nearly knocked down by a motorcyclist on a walkway! And to see many even crossing at the traffic junctions meant for pedestrians! :faint:

Come on...it;s obvious I meant majority. Why put words into my mouth? Are you a BMW driver? I am only sharing my experiences. Why must you be so defensive? You can share yours if you encounter otherwise. I have reported so many cases of illegal parking by BMW, Merc, Lexus, Audi etc at my estates until I lost count. They blatantly parked over nights every weekends and denied others of the use of the loading/unloading bay and the ram for disabled or pram users!

No not defensive at all. I know I do no such things that you have mentioned.

In any case, :thankyou: very much for clarifying that you do not mean all.

                    Sweeping statements can be misleading.

two weeks ago when my dd and i were at the zebra crossing,my dd followed a good protocol to raise up her hand to indicate we wanted to cross the road. the next moment, the driver sped up instead of slow down. scared both of us out as we had made our firststep crossing.

felt that nowsaday people get impatient easily.

regardless of turing left or right, if there is a taxi in front of you, stay a few cars length behind and dont speed. that taxi turning could do a sudden stop to pick up a fare. suay suay you pick up speed (also to beat traffic light) and bang, hit it.

i dont know why people like to stand at the traffic light to get a taxi. not only are they holding traffic up (imaging the queue of cars turning and block by the stationary taxi), it is accident waiting to happen.
