      ??? Really no response ???

I believe the North Easterners are all subsumed under the Northern group :). But you are welcome to start your own Club NE-ers if you wish, or Club Hougang, or Club Sengkang, etc.

Think some of us are reporting under Eastender.

BTW, any good recommendations on a good kindergarden in the north east area? I am looking at Kovan, hougang area. Preferably non-religious, strong on academic and character building. Not looking for CC and it seems like I am unable to solict any feedback on such pre-school.

              [/quote]Hi MMM,

I am on the same boat as you. Its really difficult to find a kindy that does not have have any religious affiliation, esp in the area that I am living in (I may be wrong, but this is my conclusion aft some mths of research). And I do not want to send my son to a CC as I am a SAHM. But then again, if you are looking for a kindy that provides good character education, perhaps you may have to consider such a kindy, as I finally have. Would like to share with you my 'findings'. These are what I have shortlisted (NOT in order of preference):

              1. St Paul's Church Kindy (Upper Serangoon area)
DH's cousin's son is there. The parents are v satisfied with the sch.

              2. Catholic Kindy (Upper Serangoon area)
'Kaypoh' me went and approach a lady sitting on a bench opposite my block and asked her whether her son was attending the kindy as he was wearing the uniform. She's v happy with the kindy and told me that they prepare the pupils well for P1.

              3. Ascension Kindy (Potong Pasir)
Highly recommended by DH's frd whose 3 daughters are there and also by my neighbour whose grdchild is there as well. Heard that they also prepare pupils for P1. Website is http://www.ascension.org.sg

              4. Bethany Kindy (Upper Paya Lebar Road)
This is by far the only one I have visited. Small kindy with only one session. Younger ones get to study outdoors. Because the church has floor to ceiling glass walls, therefore you have natural sunlight streaming into the 'classrooms' which is really beautiful. This kindy seems to provide a wholistic education. They also provide weekly updates. Website is http://www.bethanyipc.org.sg/kindy

Even though I am not a Christian or a Catholic, I am considering the above kindys for my son, and at the moment, I am strongly leaning towards the last one.

The last two do not have any religious affliation.

              5.Chatsworth
Located in Seletar, but was told they are moving but not sure of the new venue yet. They have a comprehensive website which is http://www.chatsworthkindergarten.com. Thye provide provide weekly updates to parents. The only grouse I have is that they do not conduct Mandarin lessons every day for the young ones and the teacher is externally sourced. I doubt she is a full time teacher in the school. This is the impression I get.

              6. PCF - SPICE in Serangoon North Ave 1 Blk 125
I am only considering this because of they seem to have a structured programme. They even have Speech and Drama lessons as part of their enrichment I think, conducted by teachers certified by by Julia Gabriel Centre for Learning. You can perused the comments in the PCF/PAP thread in this forum. That is what made me consider this kindy as I was not in favour of sending my son to a PCF kindy initially. Have walked passed the sch. Really like the neatness and cheerfulness of the classrooms. Many posters, sight words in EL and Mandarin. The PCF is new, abt 2 yrs if my memory serves me right.

              Hope this helps πŸ˜„
