      Hi parents,

I have a 2007 ds1 and I am thinking of registering him into phpps. I callEd the school to enquire abt pv but was just told to send an email with my child's particulars and wait for a reply. Do u know if there willl be an application form to be filled in later? Or does it actually mean we don't stand a chance? Thanks! I am actually an alumni of a gals school but my no 1 is a boy! Keke
I actually think you're a bit late to be applying for PV now since your son is 2007 child. Chances are all the available vacancies would have been taken by now. Better to have plan B. Good luck.

        Hey FWQ,
No patience also have to be patient...own kids mah. I play 'taiji' when it comes to Math though. Nothing to do with patience but my lack of interest.
Err janet, who is FWQ? New member? :siam:

Having wars in my house is a regular thing but I never spank my Ds cos my sch work.....
Whoa drickymummy, you are scarier than Scary. She only spanks because of her son's sch work, but you spank because of your sch work? PH mummies can be a scary lot! :scared:

Then I am imparting good lifeskill- I will put down the book, tell him to go do sth else, later we continue.
I think that's the best approach. Sometimes when I feel that I'm gonna blow my top for whatever reason - could be due to rough time at work even - I'll send ds straight to bed. I've a certain tone when I'm mad and ds recognises that it means not bargaining.

This week is DEAR and ds came back inventing a new language which he taught me. πŸ˜„ So good to have no exams to prepare so I can afford to spend some time entertaining his idiosyncrasies.

FQW - oic. Thanks. Coz when I called to enquire, the school told me they still have vacancies but there was no application form to be filled and I was told to just email my child's particulars and mailing address to the school generic email. 😞 plan b is to move within 1 km n try my luck? 😜 wise move?

Pei Hwa has a history of balloting within 1 km except for 2003 babies.
So moving within 1km will only increase yoru chances but it is still not 100%.

Trap - yup, I also noticed. My initial plan was to do pv AND move but since the pv thing seems to be closed I guess I will relook my options too.. Thanks for a advise πŸ™‚

Sorry I'm mistaken but that will be good news to you. I think PV (for 2007 kids) may still be opened.

Even after submitting your particulars thru email, it's good to ring the GO periodically to 'remind' them of your application. As a reference, I got the call from the GO only in late Sept for the year I volunteered.

FQW - thanks for e info! Do u mind me asking if u had to fill on any application form or "proposal"? They just asked my hb to send in my child’s particulars, ie dob and mailing address. Was wondering how they would decide based on tt and whether I sld write a short note on how I can contribute? Also wld u know which area phpps usually needs pv in? Hee… Sorry for e questions.

I recalled I needed to submit an apln letter (quite a lengthy one) in which I wrote on topics like 'How I spend time with my child', 'Why do I wish to PV in PH', 'What can I contribute in terms of PV' and some other things which I can't remember now.

I know that sch is conservative in accepting PV due to uncertainty in total number of P2B applicants, so success rate was almost 1-in-8 or thereabouts during my time.

Most PVs I know ended up being the hands-and-legs for the teachers such as manning stores during Sports Fest, helping out in library etc. Nothing so atas that the average Joe can't do.

                        Hi drickymummy,

He will be heavily penalized if handwriting is ugly or illegible. Told him many many times...examiner will mark wrong if answer is questionable :stompfeet:
My cane is used when kids tell lies, rude and throw tantrums.

That is exactly wat I told Ds too! Not worth losing marks over terrible handwritings.. Now worse for him cos daily work which includes neatness is part of his grades! πŸ˜“
