                HTH...

                1 day ----- $0.75
                4 days ----- $3

                For every 4 days, she saved $4.5 ($3 + $1.5 from her mother)

                27 / 4.5 = 6 groups ( of 4 days )

                6 x 4 = 24 days

                She will need 24 days to save a total of $27.

                  Hi

                  alternate approach using ratio...

                  Mandy's savings : mother's contribution : total savings
                  = 2u : 1u : 3u
                  3u --> $ 27
                  Amount saved by Mandy = 2/3 x $ 27 = $ 18
                  $ 18 / $0.75 = 24 --> Mandy will take 24 days to save a total of $27

                  cheers.

                        Please help with this.

                        Denise had 288 beads more that Annie. After Denise lost 1/6 of her beads and Annie lost 75% of her beads, Denise had 303 more beads that Annie. How many beads did Denise have at first ?

                        thanks.
