i use the same method, but my boy still writes terribly when in school! Drives me crazy, n all his spelling will go haywire too, alot worse than preschool time.. I guess it is part of learning..
I'm not making this up. I went and got those K1/K2 writing exercise books (you know those with dotted lines for tracing) from Big Bookshop in Clementi Central oppo. Yamaha. Then every night for 3 mths, I get ds to write pages after pages of Hanzi & alphabets until I'm satisfied.
If he shows untidy handwriting, I'll erase everything he has written and he has to start all over again. It works. Today ds is able to hold the pencil firmly and write consistently most of the time. So much better than in early P1.

fqw - sounds like u really like e sch.. tt is pretty reassuring to hear too..

jennifer - as i am a ptwm, i will usually be able to adjust my schedule to pick e kids and my dad has also offered to help if required. however it does seem like there is a need to reconsider if the CV lessons are not as enriching and all.. due to change in P/management?
we received another email from the school that an official reply is being sent to us after getting the P's signature.. kinda makes me wonder if there is a mix up as we have yet to even submit our application? haha -
FQW:
Really? When I asked my gal, she just shrugged her shoulders.. Uniform considered as costume??
Yup, that's correct. Tomorrow can wear any costume ....... except the emperor's new clothes.Willow:
Hi mummies,
Does anyone knows whether tomorrow is a Friendship day which students can come to sch in costumes ? Not sure whether my P1 got it wrong....didnt see any letter abt it. Thanks!

ok.. I followed that & drafted her speech. Should have start earlier..Joyfulhands,
Think just follow the circular that was given to us before end of Term 1 for the Chinese Show and Tell. -
my ds told me can wear costume or otherwise wear PE attire too...i got really annoyed cos he just told me today when he already knew abt since tues.... :slapshead:

FQW:
Joyfulhands reading your post, machiam like you're the one taking P1 lessons in PH liddat.
Relax lah sista. Remember our lucky kids are not thrown into the deep end (of having exams) too early so we must take full advantage of this. :boogie:
Tell you something, compared to my MIL, I'm the LF one. She'll ask questions like: do you've homework today? Have you learnt your spelling? Ting xie? etc. And she'll check my gal's handbook & homework file.
With my enthusiastic MIL around, I can 'shake leg'
FQW:
Oh, I can't do that 1 thing you say I must do... Because I can't change the gender of my DD to DS! :rotflmao:If there's one thing that you must do, just make sure your ds reads lots of Chinese books/mags/newspaper, or you read to him. Trust me - but not with a knife - as this is sagely advice from our predecessor with scholarly kid.

In the past, CV lessons were conducted by preachers from the church. Preacher Willy and Preacher Diana were well loved by the pupils.
Then I was told by my younger boy that the CV lessons were conducted by someone who was not a sch teacher nor preacher.
The delivery of CV not by a preacher really cant measure up. -

Willow, your DS is still not as ultimate as my DD, who told me only after I ask her upon me reading your post, and initially said dunno, then later told me her FT did tell the class! *faint* -
Joyfulhands:
i tot the kid is supposed to do it himself/herself...how come mummy must draft the speech??
ok.. I followed that & drafted her speech. Should have start earlier..Scary:

Ha Ha .... I Can Just Imagine ....drickymummy:
Scary mummy, carelessness is a common issue among kids ...sometimes could be due to situations like a timed test..they can be v Gan chiong too.. And that will happen to adults as well.. My Ds is also super careless but wat to do, just have to remind n remind n when comes to papers, teach him self checking methods to minimize mistakes lor. But these days, on top of carelessness is the worst nightmare of laziness! Like Ds, he just choose to ake short cuts by cutting out steps in math calculations n made lots of mistakes! This is bad! :frustrated: for carelessness, just remind can Liao..
Handwriting being messy is pretty unforgivable most of the time! In sch, sometimes I can understand they r rushed to finish their work.. Though I still find that he can at least try to write better, I can still let it go... But at home, and writing still as messy will sure kanna fr me too  We have been gg thru correction tapes as though they are free :moneyflies: he needs a new 6m roll almost every wk for his sch bag n this is not taking into account the extra tape he uses at home!
he gets angry when I ask him to write n rewrite again n again n he can be still stubborn at times..but I usually win in the end lor..after a molehill of correction tapes on the same spot... But sometimes when he does his work with more care n neatness I do remember to praise him for sure n he loves that.. So dun forget to praise your Ds too ah!
molehill of correction tapes on the same spot
But - Word of Caution on Correction Tape, though ....
Not Exactly Encouraged.
When it Comes to Exam in Sec Sch ....
Both My ds R Very adamant - Correction Tape is Not Allowed!
They R Told to Cancel whatever Written Wrongly, and Re-write Again.
And with the Mole-Hill of Correction Tapes that your Son is So Reliant On ....
Doing So Later .... Can Get Withdrawal Symptom -hor! :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
I also know that this is bad...his dad almost ban the use of correction tapes!
