Is there any report card (like Primary) we will be receiving for this concluded Term 1?

My DS tell the marks here and there, IH project this much, IS group project this much, LA class test this much, etc. But so far not a consolidated one, like each subject how much total for 100 or in terms of GPA.

      Any seniors can advise? Thx.

Yes, you will receive a interim progress report before the PTM showing the Marks (in %), Percentile, Cohort mean, Grade, % Assessed and Credit for each subject. At the end of the report, there is also the Interim GPA & Percentile of Interim GPA.

Some of you may be visiting NJC on 14th April to meet teachers.

How your DS/DD have done in Sem 1?

            Care to share …

Attended PTM this morning. Principal told parents not to compare results among the kids. Just know what our kid is doing vis a vis general cohort is gd enough.

My thoughts on the individual meeting with the teachers:
              1. Some parents try to squeeze too many meetings back to back. In the end late for their slot and cut into other’s time or expect others with later slot but keep to their time to let them cut in.
              2. Some parents talk more then the teachers and talk more than their allotted 15mins. Teachers too polite to cut them off.

If everyone just be punctual and keep to their allotted time or at least give themselves enough time to move around, life will be so much more pleasant for everyone.

I dun know if the timeslots were given by teachers (non-negotiable) or decided by parents.

But this exceeding time limit is not only happening in NJC. My boys' primary sch also like this. The most recent one I encountered was a Chinese nationality parents checking the test paper qns with the HOD MA for their P6 boy. More than 20 mins. I was so angry, I typed a sms msg on my phone n showed to the HOD teacher in front of the parents.

We, parents, dont choose time. Time slots are given by teacher only. I couldn't get any time slot except my DS personal mentor at 8:15 AM. After I finish with him, when I saw the Maths teacher is free, I took his time for 5 minutes with his permission.

Some teachers I wanted to meet are unavailable, their desks are empty until 9 AM.

Did anyone attended Principal briefing and PAACT?

Haha....that happened today. A PRC mother was taking so long with the teacher. She was the only one talking. The teacher did not talk just listen and nod. DH had to signal his impatience but exegerating the action of looking at his watch when the woman turned around :). At least she noticed and stopped. I suppose she could have ignored and go on.

To be fair, the kids went to the individual teachers to request time slot. If the slots were too close or overlap, parents can choose not to accept it rather then accept duplicates or back to back slots. Best if everyone exercise discretion and selectivity. But then, easier said then done. All hope to get as much info as possible. All want to get the best for their kids.

It is Sat, so maybe some teachers had family commitments and were not able to come early. We only met the 2 personal mentors and the subject teacher of his weakest subject - Chinese!

DS says that the slides of the Principal presentation was same as the one the Principal showed and spoke to them about. So you can ask your DS/DD. He/She must have heard that speech last week. Showed how the GPA are computed. Showed the average performance of each class for each subject. Spoke about selecting top10% of Maths students for accelerated Maths. Ask for support at Funtasia. That's about it, I think.

This is a good opportunity to go meet the teachers.

My boy's PM has been absent due to long sick leave. He does not know when is the PTM or whether today's PTM is also for JH3?

So I am going to the Fun Fair to see if I can catch any teachers to talk to 😂
