Even supposedly fit soccer players can just collapse on the field, Fabrice Muamba from Bolton Wanderers suffered a near-fatal cardiac arrest on the pitch last month.

Naive blog, beyond belief. Military synergy with ASEAN? The same people who call us a little red dot? Those who strive to shut our airspace?
Thanks for sharing, Lyddon! It opens my eyes yet to another perspective.Lyddon:
Here's an interesting blog about NS.

Our neighbours have no love for Singapore, don't ever forget that. -

Anyway, my impression is that he is trying to say NS is inhuman?? Sound like a rubbish article to me.
We should not take peace and security for granted.
The first line of defense is not military might. It is deterrence. Many pple does not understand that. We send a message to everyone out there, that if they were to attack us, they will have to pay a high price, because we have an effective and capable armed forces.
If there is no armed forces and military capability, many would be tempted to invade if they believe there is little price to pay.
Some pple believed that because Singapore is peaceful and stable, armed forces are not necessary. What they do not realize is that Singapore had been peaceful and stable BECAUSE of the presences of a credible and effective armed forces.
It is naive to depend on others for security. Their grandparents never tell them what happened during WWII?
When they find it tough to fight, the British simply pull out!
Only Singaporeans will place Singapore above all priorities, not anybody else. -
Joule:
What on earth gives you that impression? We are absolutely surrounded by unfriendlies. They are only 'friendly' because we are economically and militarily strong.
and it's not like we're surrounded by unfriendlies -
