      sleepy:
      Canvas:

now I feel as if I am in my own little world of errands and kids and whatsnot that social life is non existent anymore. Even conversations with acquaintances seem awkward. AIYO! 🤷

I am asking because the SAHMs I met recently seem to be quite withdrawn and I am starting to understand why. :gloomy:

No all la, those SAHMs outside school gate super chatty and exchange all sort of insider's info le. I used to enjoy standing within earshot just to earshove for entertainment since I'm stuck waiting anyway

However, I'm defintiely the withdrawn kind of SAHM, so I shy away from talking to other super chatty SAHMs unless I'm being spoken to, then I will reply out of politeness

Kind of scary if suck into their daily info exchange session. I got absolutely no insider's info to contribute since I bochap school related gossips & politics. So what if this teacher doesn't get along with that teacher? Don't know Don't care

But that was last time. After swtiching to a further away school, I drive so I can hide inside my car, no need to talk to anyone 😉

That's the reason why I hardly made any new friends the last 10 years :yikes: Too contended being my own best friend

      :hi5:
I'm very similar.....stay within earshot to listen cos' I am pretty bo-chap and have nothing to contribute. When DD transfer to another school, all the more I know nothing about her classmates, her teachers, the culture etc....so only listen.

I find myself not really able to blend with those super chatty/loud type....and also those that speak dialects. But fortunately, found 1 who is more mellow and we can click to some extent....so we do meet for lunch, exchange some notes etc.

As for ex-colleagues....guess I do feel a little out-of-place. No longer able to discuss about work, it's all about house, children, family, kids & study 😢

I stand at the side of the gate waiting…within ear shot of them yakking in mandarin or hokkien. Don’t pick my daughter everyday this year…so all the more I don’t bother. Pick her and go off.

        Diff frequency no point chatting.

I see daddies and grandpa in groups too.

Only difference is the guys are more vocal. A few vocal ones would not hesitate to tell some parents/non parents drivers off for being impatient on the road especially at the zebra crossings.

I have no inside info too  and enrichment classes wise, I seldom compare or do research so no advice.

Smile, stand alone, read a book, wear a big hat to pass the time.

The best is to wear sunglasses if you want to look at someone closely

Oh yeah, fashion show too at the gate.

What fashion show ? Those grandmothers and aunties there are dressed in old tees, shorts and flip flops. I do not participate in their chatter bcos they talk about enrichment. Not the Julia Gabriel type but I find it not to my interest. Like you, stand alone or else chat with the parent volunteer manning the gate.

My side sometimes see big hats, nice dresses, short shorts, chubby legs, low cut, tattoos, nice bags.

Sometimes sian will compare the group of helpers’ dressing with those mummies (me myself included).

If you see a helper wearing same tees as you, would you wear it again to school?

                Me yes.

Many maids chattering loudly with one another (like crows)...or talking loudly on the mobile :slapshead:
My side here NO big hats, low cut or tattoos. Old tees and worn out shorts oft seen. Plump ah mah...in short, aunty type. Now I look forward to see Thomas Ong again.

Yes, yes yes. If Nicky Wu, then this mother would have forgotten she is there to pick her daughter. AND also forget her name.
