Tks so much for your detailed explanation. My DS has a clear understanding of the answer now. Not sure if you could help with another question which we’ve difficulty in solving:

There are 9 stacks of chairs in the hall. There are 12 chairs in each stack. Mohan places each chair equally spaced apart to form the perimeter of a rectangle. If the number of chairs placed along its length is thrice the number of chairs placed along its breadth, how many chairs are placed along one of the lengths of the rectangle?

using the units approach ....

At first,
Bin --> 3 units + 3
Wei --> 8 units + 8
After Wei gave 8 specimen to Bin,
Bin --> 3 units + 11
Wei --> 8 units
Bin had 1/2 of Wei's specimen :
3 units + 11 --> 4 units
1 unit = 11
3 x 11 + 3 = 36
Bin had 36 at first.
