Q&A - P1 Chinese

Hi, you can see demo of Etutor 网上学堂 on their website. I am still considering whether to take up just Etutor for my P1 DS.


Just saw today in forum there is a "Pri 1 Pinyin" available on 29Mar, just for iphone & ipad.

I have the WaWaYaYa 乐学派 tablet. I like the Shen Bi where you can practise writing the chinese characters. But I seldom take out the tablet for DS now cos he end up wanting to play games on the tablet!

DD will have a Chinese listening test next week, as part of her alternative assessment for P1. Does anyone know what this listening test entails? Eg teacher reads aloud passage and children look out for the answers an answer sheet?

Any of your children having problem in HYPY? My son scored very very low in his first assessment test in HYPY (last in the class) and don’t think he can improve further but I was told he’s not so important when he goes in upper primary.


Usually the assessment of 情景對話 is only following what’s the script of the handout from the teacher or it will vary and the script is only a sample for the students to practice?

I would not say that HYPY is not important in upper primary as I see in my P4 DD1, they are still being tested for HYPY in the 填写音节 section

Both my DDs have finished their Chinese Oral in school and Yes, those scripts and pictures are for a guide and to practise at home. But for P1, the pictures are quite similar (for my P1 DD2 case) - 学校，公园，游乐场

I mean 情景對話, that is the teacher will act as one person, say the seller of bookstore, and the student will have to role play with the teacher in Chinese.

Is it same as what you’re referring? I don’t see any picture provided in the sample

The above is take from my P4 DD1's 课文词语手册.

So \"coincidentally\"无独有偶 ,the word \"尾巴\" appears both in the P1 & P4 syllabus. So, jokingly I told P1 DD2,\" Oh, you are learning P4 words, Excellent!\" To my P4 DD1, I said,\" Oh, you have learnt this word since P1 so it is a \"blessing\" if it is being tested in the coming SA1 - you should have known it by now!\" :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
