Hard Truth:
I just confiscated my maids h/p since shes in touch with friends instead of family. Told her she can hv it back in the nite or anythime she wants to msg or call home
Great. We do not mind them calling home as their parents may be concerned. Your maid has experience or new? If new, wonder how she has got a list of friends already
Well my maid is considered fresh and transfered out after 3 months, in her late 30s. Last employer found her english poor, yup for a filipina her standard of english is really bad, I normally let them keep their phones until they get out of hand then I keep it and she can have it back in the evening. My maid sneeked out of the hse to meet another maid nearby my home and there are lots of maids in my area, so making appointments thru the phone is really unnecessary especially when shes only been with me less then 3 weeks  -

I will be ending contract with my Filipino maid in Jun. But she is requesting for early release n transfer to another employer.
Can anyone advise if my liability ends once her work permit is transferred? I understand she has a 3 months probation period with her new employer. If she cannot passed the probation period, will I be liable for sending her home? -
When her work permit is transferred to the new employer, you have no more rights or obligations to the maid. (She will not be your maid anymore)
Just make sure that the papers are done and the WP is transferred to new employer. -
Her new employer wants her ASAP. Do I hv the right to insist on releasing her at end of contract? Will they be able to transfer her out of my employment without my knowledge or any excuse that I hv to watch out?

You don't have to transfer her early. It is your right and within your control. If the new employer cannot wait, then get another maid la. You don't have to inconvenience yourself for them. If they are unreasonable, u just don't sign the trf. Cancel her work permit and send her home lor... -

Can someone tell me why one employer would want to \"poach\" another's maid? -

Only 3 weeks and she sneaks out! Better watch your expensive stuff. She is daring! -

Can someone tell me why one employer would want to \"poach\" another's maid?
They may not be \"poaching\". If the maid has put herself up for transfer, the agency will market her out to potential employers. If they like her and they don't currently have a maid/their maid is about to leave, then they will naturally want her asap. It's the same as for any job - it's a negotiation between the employee, the current and future employer. Just because they are maids it isn't any different really. If the current employer has a problem with letting her go early, then don't.
