He didn't manage to finish one bit and I sent him to bed at 10.30pm. A record breaking time since 9.30 is the usual bed time.

What makes me angry is that after completing the hw, it is not collected the next day. :stompfeet: Worst still, ds forgot to hand up hw and ended up with a 'late' remark written on it! :slapshead:
But I am amazed that dd's friend slept after 11pm and does her hw while watching drama on tv.

Every child is diffrent. My DD has no problem staying late when she was in p6 but my DS now tries very hard to stay up will 10pm but will wake up with puffy eye bag and dark ring around his eyes. Some studies very well at night and some more productive in the morning.

I feel best not to compare what others are doing but rather find a way that best suites them. :xedfingers:

        PSLE ORAL

I am thinking of narrowing down some topics for conversation and picture conversation to practise during June holidays. Does anyone here know of past years' topics (Eng Or Chinese) or is there a thread with topics listed? Thanks

My DD school started practising past years topic since P5. i thought most schools should have given out to all the children - no ? :?

Nah uh... mine only JUST started.

DS just finished both his oral today. According to him, the conversation part may not be necessarily related to the picture given (at least for his chinese). The picture discussion given was a library but the conversation is about what he does during his free time. However, for English oral, picture and conversation were both related. The picture was on CCA and he was asked about his CCA during conversation.

His Chinese teacher prep them pretty well, instead of just discussion, the teacher gets the boys to write in paper a conversation topics (just like doing a mini compo). I think in this case, the kids will remember better instead of just listen and forget.

Picture discussion is quite standard ( there are a few scenarios) but I think conversation is hard to narrow down.

fifiyeo... ehhhhh... doing full papers is not waste of time leh... I always delete work that I have set if I realize that the school has given him practice full papers to do.

He didn't manage to finish one bit and I sent him to bed at 10.30pm. A record breaking time since 9.30 is the usual bed time. The really nice thing he said before going to bed was asking me to wake him up at 5.30am in the morning so he could try to get it done. It's nice to see him grow up this bit.

                  Aiyo... so good boy!

Doing full papers are not a waste of time. But doing questions that DS already know and hence having less time left to target the problem areas is the issue. When time is limited, it may not be a good idea. Once in awhile doing full papers to practise speed and timing is good.

Anyway, if it's between doing homework or getting sufficient sleep. I'll go for sleep. It's really important especially for growing children.

DS's teacher told me that several parents had written in yesterday and an extension of dateline was given. She too agreed that it's better DS gets the sleep than the homework done. Falling sick is worse. Her words \"Need not worry. Don't have to wake him up early to get it done.\" I had told her that DS wanted to wake up early to finish up his work but we didn't support that idea.

This week is preparation for EL/CL oral...time is needed to prepare and revise, rest is crucial too. Son told me the Health Ed teacher wants them to do a group project...in my mind, I am thinking how ridiculous it is. :slapshead: Think my son could read my expression, bcos he said the teacher was :siao: .

The whole class protested and teacher decided to get them to do it during curriculum time. That's more like it.
