I know what you mean and I don't fight that. Choices, like time and money, are limited at times and may not be available to one at all time. precisely because I have a choice, I choose something that I want to believe is the best out of the situation, not just for myself but also people around me. I get where you both are coming from. But besides agreeing with strparent that it takes two hands to clap, I think it can also be construed to be very hurtful to some working mothers who do not have the choice to work part time or stay home. There are mothers who are widowed, stuck with a good for nothing spouse, struggling with debts or simply not well educated enough to have much career choice. All they can do is concentrate on paying the bills and hope that their children will turn out okay.deminc:

Everyone has their own circumstances, and we all try to be good mums, spend as much time as we can nurturing our kids, pointing them in the right direction.
Sometimes having a very controlling sahm can have the opposite effect from what is intended on kids. A good number of my peers have better relationships with their mums who worked than those who were sahms. I suppose sometimes it's due to the mums themselves, might not be because they were or were not sahms. but i think being a sahm has certain endemic effects that one has to be conscious about, not to let it skew one's familial rlps.
Although generally I still agree that kids with sahms are very blessed, and the mum has definitely sacrificed to be with the kids, whether they had a five-figure salary job or just a 3 figure salary one. It's infinitely easier to be in the workforce than thanklessly facing one's kids each day. -

I find those different different lanes very confusing. The dim sum place we went have lots of families, atmosphere was quite alright. The other prawn noodles shop we went once, I felt uncomfortable.
