DS2 also goes to student care in his school but it seems he's quite happy there. No tuition so far but he's that kind of slack person who will hide inside the :imconstipated: to read books if I nag at him, play ipad the moment he reaches home .... & most forgetful too, average water bottle he lost per week is 1 - 2 until we have no choice, but recycle mineral bottle for his use ...

Thought recycle mineral bottle is not good for health ? Perhaps u can deduct his pocket $ for each loss item. 1 to 2 per week is really too much !

For me, one of the issues ( though not really big deal) , is the amt of $ that I hv spent on correction tape. Realize DS is \"sponsoring\" this to his classmates ! One of the main users even commented , after a \"lenghty\" use , that the correction tape is no good !

ya recycle mineral water bottle is no good, lucky DS2 will loose it within 2 - 3 times after reuse, just like yesterday, he lost his \"recycled water bottle\" again ! Yes, correction tape is one of the most heavily used items, forever so clumsily with that thing, always play with it by pulling it out but failing to put back into the roller, so you can imagine, there goes another one again....sigh...

Same here! My DS used so many correction tapes, I have to keep buying so many boxes of refill. \"I asked him do you eat them or what?\" :frustrated:

I am also FTWM! But luckily I can go back home before 6:00pm every day.

The correction tape is the main issue for me too, nearly every one to two weeks spend one!

          Re: correction tape :hi5:

Had same problem since last year when they started using pen. Finally gave DS ultimatum this year to manage his own stationery. Gave him re-fillable CT & 6 refills to last 1 semester. If he finishes before that, he'll have to buy from his pocket money. Same with pen, pencil, leads, etc. So far, so good. Had to get a couple of pens tho'. Next stock re-plenishment will be during mid-year hols.

Haha ! Glad to know that we have many FTWMs in this forum. I came across an article indicating a no. of GEP kids’ mums are FTHWs. True, we may struggle to find time to coach and revise but importantly, I tell DD to seek help fr tr or us if she is unsure. Do not wait as this will accumulate more doubts.

Btw, some of DD classmates started to bring date stamps and name chops for the worksheets. Now, my DD asks for it too.

              Mock Paper : English

DD got back Eng mock paper. Lowest score was 26.5/40 and higest 34/40.

              Mock Paper : SS
No score but looking at the qns, it is applying general knowledge and certain qns are testing more on Eng.

Example : Married but w/o children. Increase in proportion of sich couples as shown in Census 2010 survey did not surprise experts. High cost of living - fr property to cars to childcare fees - is one main reason they shy away fr raising children.

Fr extract abv, all the following are effects on family unit except :-
              1) families w children may no longer be able to afford luxuries.
              2) shared values and traditions may be lost once the older generation passes on.
              3) low income workers would have to delay retirement as they have no children to support.
              4) there will be an increase in no. of inter-racial marriages.
Ans : 4 ( Child may overlook the key word (effects) and choose the wrong answer )

              Mock Paper : Sci
This is one of the toughest. Has to use specific Sci term to apply which is DD’s weakest point. Both hubby and I were figuring what to apply.

May I know the Mock test paper is in which year?

May I know your DD is in which school?

                        Mock Paper :

Good qn asked. I also want to know if there is a website for such mock papers. Only heard that there is for HCL fr DD. Asking her to check cos her classmates spotted

DD got back the Sci mock pp yesterday. For Part 1, it is 18 qns of MCQ which is 2 mark each. For Part 2, marks allocation varies for 1 to 4. More on 1 mark in Part 2. Looking at it, we should focus on MCQ to gain 2 marks for each qn correct.

                        Project :
DD is managing the project herself which makes her more independent. We facilitate by getting more resources so that she has a broader view and do an assessment what she thinks is relevant and appropriate. Then she will sieve out what is needed or not.
