All About Full-Time Maids
-
Age a bit hard to prove if the maids insist on lying through their teeth. I can imagine the agent telling disgruntled employer....I told you she can cook, but never say if she can cook well or not. Burnt food is still cooked food. :siam:

oh I missed the news, thought the increase in agency fees is only for Indonesian maid. Why are we always at the mercy of agents?? That’s why we should be allowed to gain access to the pool of maid’s database for direct hire. Get rid of agencies!!!
At the end of the day, life will still be the same even after all the grouses and complaints. Nothing will change for us. "ren ming" -
I will be sending my maid back to Cebu coming Friday due to her poor performance and she’s diagnosed with latent TB (she just completed her 4 months medication). Anyone can advice me on how to tell the maid that we are sending her away? We intend to let her know only on the day she leaves. But the agent said we must let her know early, to mentally prepare her so that she will not refuse to go to the airport.
-
Are you sending the maid to the airport yourself? If so, you don’t have to bother with what the agent says. These agencies are really not helpful when it comes to problem solving. Get your husband to be there. You sit next to her at the back seat incase she jump ship. If you think her character is such that she won’t run away if you terminate her contract then you can let her know earlier but if you feel she will flee then I think you better be safe than sorry. Inform her last minute.
As it is your family already has problem dealing with the TB. Do you know your whole family needs to go CDC for checkup on whether affected. its a time-consuming process and cost money? I hope the agent is providing you a free replacement. -
Dear all,
Need your kind advise.
This is my first time getting a maid and after some interviews, I am interested in this phillipino maid got jocelyn Quiaoit.
Almost wanted to take her when I suddenly rem abt getting her employment history via her work permit no.
The agency showed me and to my surprise, she had 5 employers from her 2 yrs stay in spore.
Her first 2 employment lasted 3months, in both cases is becoz the Ah Ma passed away.
Her 3rd employment lasted 1 yr and she left coz the employer never pay for for 5 mths and she brought her case to MOM.
Then she had 2 more short employment after this case and the reason for the shortness was becoz it’s all temporary jobs as she is still under invested for this "no salary" case and thus not able to be recruited full time.
And now the reason for looking for a full time employment is becoz her case with MOM is being settled. In the meantime, she is staying with the maid quarters.
I dunno if all these make sense. Is this normal?
She is the only transferred maid asking for 450. The rest are at least 500 and one even quoted 650! And all wanted 4 off days.
Didnt know it’s so hard and exp to get maid nowadays… -
I would advise against taking this maid. Even if salary is < $450!!

Karl12:
from my experience with transfer maid with such history, don't take such chances. i was in a similar situation and opted to take her despite her history of many employers. she has a reason everytime she changed employer and it was never her fault. during interview she appear very nice and seem like a decent maid. once we signed on the dot and brought her home, she showed her true colors within 1 week. don't take such chance even if the agency promised free replacement.Dear all,

Thanks for the advises.
I better don’t take her then.
I am actually looking for transfer maid to start work 2 weeks later.
Guess I better assess slowly… These smart maid agency, they know i am a first timer, so keep telling me it’s alright, she’s good, just tat she is unlucky…
Lucky I never bring my kid’s birth cert.
By the way, they said I need to bring my NRIC, my kid’s birth cert, my income statement from IRAS. Isst true?
Why they need the birth cert? -
Dear Karl12,
Please be careful which maid agency you are using too! If the maid agency is a "one man show" ie. small outfit, it is likely they will make you take multiple-transfer maid. Passing the problem maid round and round to unsuspecting employer, then blame the employer for being unlucky!
I use Nations for all my maids. This agency at least is already large and established and they won’t anyhow introduce transfer maids to other employers. Also will help the employer. Fees not cheap for sure but at least from my experience, the maids we got were OK!
Larger maid agencies can have better resources as well for selection of maids.
Although there is definitely no guarantee at the end of the day but at least we hope potential problems will be minimized.
All the best! -
Agree with DesertWind. I tried a small outfit with one man show and end up choosing maid who does not meet my criteria because the agency simply don’t have any new bio data for me to choose.
